I'm guessing where you grounded the Curt # C56079 isn't sufficient. It could be grounded well enough to light up your test light, especially if it's an LED tester, but not enough for the actual trailer lights. We don't have a video that shows the Thule Hullavator # TH898 being installed on a set of Thule Aeroblade crossbars but I can describe to you the process. I also attached pictures that I took from the install instructions that show how it attaches as well.

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118482.

When going through the firewall, there may be an existing wire bundle going through a grommet that you can use to reach the engine compartment on your 2010 Toyota Venza.

According to the instructions for Curt hitch # 13356, linked for reference, lowering of the exhaust is required on all models. And on AWD models you also have to disconnect the sway bar brackets like you said. It might be possible to angle the hitch in without lowering the exhaust but it would be difficult.

It seems odd, but the reason Kuat recommends using their 1/2 inch pin, # HL2, with their 2 inch bike racks is because a larger pin will interfere with the anti-rattle system in the bike rack's shank.
To eliminate the movement of the pin, you can pull the rack backwards before tightening the anti-rattle system, while the hitch pin is installed, then tighten the anti-rattle knob down. This will sandwich that pin between the rack and the hitch keeping it from rattling around.

Any time you use a bike rack or a hitch mounted carrier you will want to use a support strap like the Curt Stabilizer Strap # 18050, failure to do so could cause damage to the hitch and would void the warranty for the hitch also. The strap will provide extra support for the hitch and will help to reduce the amount of vertical shock that the bike rack would put on the hitch when going over bumps.

You can just use 1 power wire for both the 4- to 7-Way adapter # 30717 and the T-one harness # 118482. You would use the power wire and 40 amp circuit breaker but between that power wire and the converter box on harness # 118482 you would still use the in line yellow fuse holder and fuse.

You can mount the Tekonsha P-3 Brake Controller, # 90195, where ever you have room in the cab of your 2012 Toyota Venza. Two things to keep in mind when mounting the brake controller are to have the back of the brake controller pointing in the direction of travel when it is mounted and that it has a 180 degree vertical plane operating range. To install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller, part # 90195 on your 2011 Toyota Venza, you will need to hard wire using brake controller 7 a 4-Way installation kit, part # ETBC7. The power for the brake controller will come directly from the vehicle battery. The Prodigy P-3 will go into a sleep mode after several minutes of no activity. That is an excellent question and one that I am sure many people have regarding their tie-down straps. Quite often people buy tie-down straps and use them maybe a handful of times throughout the year.
