We haven't run into this in the past with customers who have used the # 118710 so I would start by checking the vehicle side connector. The brake and turn signals are separate on your European style 7-way so you will need to determine which pin is the brake signal and check for power using a tester like the # PTW2993. Hey Bill thanks for your question. Like you said there are several things that can cause an intermittent trailer disconnected message. The most common cause is a rusty or corroded trailer connector. Go ahead and inspect the trailers 7-way plug. If there is noticeable rust or corrosion it will need to be replaced with something like the 7-Way Round RV Style Trailer Connector # A7WCB. I suggest using a bit of Dielectric Grease # 11755 on the trailer plug and the vehicles 7-way.

There's a couple of things that could be causing the Trailer Disconnected error to keep popping up on your dash. If your lights aren't working on the trailer you will want to check both the 7-way on your F-350 and the one on your trailer to make sure there isn't corrosion or frayed wires. You can use a wire tester like item # PTW2993 to make sure you're getting power to the circuits.

If you're testing the wiring and there's power getting to the lift motor when the switch is in the off position then you either have a wiring issue or the vent is getting power from somewhere else. With the light going out immediately it sounds like it could be shorting out. What voltage are you reading when you test the power?

While it's normal to be able to hear electric brake drums, like your Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # 23-464, humming when power is being applied to them, I recommend trying to physically move your trailer tires before investigating every inch of your wiring and magnets (which would be the next step).

Hey Travis, so the Curt Echo # C51180 doesn't have a way to apply brakes to one side of the trailer more than the other. It can only put out one brake signal so if you have problems with one side of the trailer brakes it's not the brake controller.
