According to a Certified GMC Tech I checked with, your 2020 GMC Sierra will not register the towed miles if your dashboard is not "live". Meaning, if you do not have the ignition on or in the accessory position when flat towing there will be no power to the electronic items that register the rotation/movement of the wheels.

You could cut off the two inches that you need from the lower bend on the # LA-401BA but you would need to find a way to crimp the end of the pipes to hold onto the mounting bracket. The ends of the pipes are simply rolled outwards to prevent the bracket from falling off.
