Assuming the rest of the brake controller # 5504 is wired properly, the blue brake switch wire should be sufficient to tell the brake controller that the brakes have been pressed. My thinking is that you need to adjust the power output on the brake controller. If the output control is set too low, you may not get sufficient braking power until you use the manual over-ride switch. The first place I recommend checking is making sure the ground connection is good on the wiring harness, vehicle, trailer and all grounding connection points. Many wiring problems are caused by a bad or insufficient ground. The wiring harness # C55560 is grounded to the vehicle and this wire is white.
