The solid blue light on the Curt Echo # C51180 means that the controller is paired to your smart device but the controller isn't sensing that the trailer is connected.
Since your trailer was working just fine a few weeks ago and the controller is still paired to your smart device this leads me to believe that there is an issue with the wiring on your trailer. Try checking to make sure that your trailer connector is clean and free of any debris or corrosion. If that looks good then check... view full answer...
This is a common problem with Mercedes vehicles and trailers that have LED lights. Basically the LED lights do not draw enough power for the vehicle to recognize they are there and sometimes they sense it as a burned out bulb so you might see an error message displayed in the vehicle.
One option is to use a special adapter, # C35FR for a 7- to 4-Way or # C57003 for a 7- to 7-Way. These adapters have load resistors to simulate incandescent bulbs so the LED lights will work.
If the Mercedes... view full answer...
To correct the unwanted braking action from your Curt Spectrum # C51170 caused by the 3.6V monitoring signal generated by your 2010 Mercedes-Benz ML350 BlueTec you'll need to access the brake light signal at a location other than at the brake light switch. You can tap into the circuit at the CHMSL (center high-mount stop light) or at one of the two main brake lights and run that wire back to the controller's RED input trigger wire.
My contact at Curt confirmed this and that you do not... view full answer...
The issue you are having is not uncommon for German vehicles. There are a few things you can try to get the unit to pair.
First, If you do not see displayed what the instructions say just keep going through the steps. Sometimes, it will not display what it is supposed to but it will still work if you go through the steps to completion.
If that does not work then you can try taping off the pin in the 5 oclock position at the back of the RF (where the trailer plugs into) using electrical... view full answer...
If you are trying to install a trailer brake controller in your 2010 Mercedes-Benz ML350 the parts you will need are the brake controller itself, such as the Prodigy P3 # 90195, our installation kit # ETBC7 and a 4-pole wiring harness # C59236 if you do not already have one. These three items are all that are needed to install a brake controller and 7-way trailer connector with all light and power functions.

I'm assuming your trailer has LED lights. What's going on is that the bulb-out sensors aren't sensing enough power draw through the taillight circuits. The system thinks you have a burned out bulb, so it warns you about it.
We do indeed have the adapter you're looking for, part # C35FR. This is a 7-way to 4 or 5 pole trailer connector adapter that has load resistors installed in it. The resistors fool the bulb out sensor in the vehicle. view full answer...
Yes. High-efficiency LED type trailer lighting pulls much lower current than standard incandescent lights. This can cause odd behavior from the wiring harness but there's a simple solution to this issue. You can install a load resistor at each affected LED light. Load resistors mimic the electrical signature of incandescent lights to let the trailer wiring work as intended.
If your trailer lights use a PL-3 type connector you can use Optronics part # ALEDRST2B. If you need to hard-wire... view full answer...
It sounds like there is either a ground problem on the trailer or adapter # 20142 is not offering enough resistance to power the lights properly.
Ground problems normally show up when there is more draw on a system such as when you have the running lights on and then use another function like a turn signal or brake light.
Make sure that the vehicle side and trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out. The main connector grounds should be attached to clean and... view full answer...
The first thing you are going to want to do is test the trailer wiring harness on the vehicle to make sure you are getting power at the pins for the trailer connector. If you are not then I would need to know what trailer wiring harness you are using in order to troubleshoot further but the ground and power wire/fuse will be a good place to start. I would also like for you to confirm that the trailer wiring harness you are using is compatible with LED lights as not all are. I recommend... view full answer...
The Prodigy RF brake controller # TK94FR is a sensitive unit. You will need to make sure you follow the hooking up procedures to the letter or it may not work properly.
If you still have problems make sure that none of the tow package fuses on your 2011 Mercedes ML350 are blown.
It is also possible that the trailer lights were the problem. I would assume the rental place would check that and not leave it up to you! If the trailer happened to have LED lights you would need a special... view full answer...
So the problem that you're experiencing has to do with either a bad ground OR your trailer lights are overloading your vehicle circuits. The first thing to do is to check all of your grounds on your trailer and your vehicle side that are related to the lights. Make sure that they are securely connected to a clean, bare-metal surface. Rust, corrosion, or even some paint can cause a bad ground connection.
If all of those look good then we'll need to move on to your circuits being overloaded.I'm... view full answer...
If your vehicle is set up to only be able to tow a trailer with incandescent lights. Then you would be able to replace all of the trailers lights with LEDs and it would, in theory, work just fine.
Since we have never heard of a vehicle being only set up to tow a trailer with just LED lights I suspect you may have something else going on. Especially since German vehicles typically have the opposite problem where they don't like LED trailer lights.
