A chrome finish ball is going to look good but it will not be corrosion resistant. A ball with a machine finish like # C40041, is going to have about the same corrosion resistance. In terms of performance they will wear at about the same rate under normal use.
The best balls in terms of corrosion are going to be stainless steel followed by zinc coated balls. But in terms of balls that have a 30,000 pound capacity and a 1-1/4 inch shank, ball # BWHB94004 or # C40085 are the only options.... view full answer...
The B&W Tow and Stow ball mount you referenced, part # BWTS10040B does indeed use stainless steel pins. At one time, the ball mount included the Nitrotec pins, until problems were discovered with the pins. The Curt # C45900 is not cast. It is constructed of a solid piece of 2x2 inch steel bar stock welded to the channel mount. The connection between the bar stock and channel is fully gusseted above and below for strength. When the 2-5/16 inch ball is used, the adjustable ball mount has a 14K capacity which is reduced to 10K with the 2 inch ball. Any scuffing of either of these tonneau covers, The Truxedo Sentry or the Truxedo Sentry CT will probably be permanent. I think it will be harder to see those imperfections on the Sentry CT because it's cover is a woven 5-layer fabric, which makes it very durable. I think one of the reasons that neither of these tonneau covers come with a glossy finish is because it is harder to see those imperfections on a matte finish.

Typically, when the outside edges of a tire are showing wear its because the tires are under-inflated. The solution is to inflate the tires to the maximum pressure listed on the sidewall.
Now if the outside of tires have what looks like gouges are taken out of the rubber most likely it is broken suspension components or its a bent axle or spindle.
Unlike passenger vehicle tires, you always want to have trailer tires inflated to the maximum tire pressure for the best performance and wear.
