It sounds like your trailer has a wishbone wiring setup that uses a separate running lights circuit wire (brown) on each side of the trailer. In terms of standard trailer wiring colors it appears that you have wired the new 4-Way correctly, the issue might be that your trailer simply doesn't use standard wire colors for its lights.
This can happen on older trailers that have maybe had a couple owners or even new ones that were the victim of some "creative" wiring at the factory. Determining... view full answer...
Testing the brake controller is fairly easy. Sever the blue brake output wire near the brake controller leaving enough room to reconnect it and then apply the manual slide. Using a circuit tester like the Tester, part # PTW2993, you should get output to the controller side of the wire you severed. If the manual slide activates the trailer brake output wire properly, try the brake pedal. If the brake pedal activates the brake output properly also then the problem is farther back either in... view full answer...
It looks like you ordered the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack, part # S64650, and it's not clearing your Jeep well.
You can always look at exchanging bike racks, but I believe I have a better solution. You can use a hitch extender to give you the clearance that you need.
Normally, using a hitch extender is a worry because it will reduce your hitch's tongue weight capacity by 50%. However, in this case, the XC only weighs around 30 pounds and can only support 70 pounds for the bikes, making the... view full answer...
First, thank you for your detailed explanation, it was really helpful. And I think you hit the nail on the head with what the problem is in regards to your running lights going out when connected to your 2019 GMC Sierra. Something we have seen, especially with newer pick-ups, is that their factory trailer wiring is more complex and sensitive to trailer wiring, which is why when you unplug some of the lights they still work fine, but the full 13 lights is causing an overload.
So while you... view full answer...
Correct, at higher elevation gas powered tankless water heaters like the Fogatti # LSB44FR will not perform as expected. Any altitude over 4,000 ft high you will typically see around 4% BTU for every 1,000 ft above 4,000 ft in elevation. With a heating capacity of 41,800 BTU you can expect to see a 10% decrease in heating performance bringing the expected performance to around 37,620 BTU. To be extra safe, I recommend installing the Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide Detector # RS94FR to make sure... view full answer...
If other components are working, your battery is not the problem. It sounds like a blown fuse. I would check the lights to see if they are getting power using this multimeter # PT89ZR. If you do not have power there, go to your switch and see if the power is getting that far. If there is still no sign of power, continue this process down the wiring harness to find the problem area. Once you find the problem it may be a fuse or wire connection causing it. It is unlikely that a wire will... view full answer...
If the hot water from your Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater # LSB64FR is fading back to cold it could be for the following reasons:
If you have a lack of lp gas pressure the unit won't be able to keep up. Typically you would get an error code with this. Since you're not it leads me to believe that it's either a water pressure issue or electrical issue.
Check the water pressure at the unit to ensure it's getting around 40-50psi so that it can keep up with the demand at the point of use... view full answer...
The "RR" code is referenced in the instruction manual for the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Electric 5th Wheel RV Leveling System # LC358590. It sounds like you have already covered most of the troubleshooting steps, but I have included them all below in reference to the "RR" code.
- Check harness connections at controller and at jack.
- Check harness for damage. Repair or replace as necessary
- Check fuses at controller. Repair or replace as necessary
Make sure you are checking the wiring... view full answer...
If you aren't getting taillights when using the # HM56304 it could be that the harness is not in the correct spot like you said. The only other reason I can think of is the harness connectors not being fully seated. view full answer...
If your trailer lights are working while unhitched and then not working after hitching up then you almost certainly have a ground issue. It is probably a matter of how the wires are sitting hitched versus unhitched. Check your grounds to make sure they are attached to a clean, bare metal surface and free of any paint, dirt or corrosion.
It is also possible that the problem is a bare wire touching the frame somewhere on your trailer. You would want to check your wiring thoroughly to make... view full answer...
If the lights on your trailer are working but the Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller # C51170 is telling you that a trailer isn't connected to your 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 then that means the problem is somewhere on your trailer brake circuit.
Try using a circuit tester # PTW2992 to test the pin in the 5 o'clock position on your truck-side 7-Way socket by applying full power to your trailer brakes. I would imagine that you will see a signal here since your pickup is newer but it would... view full answer...
If the light issue is on the trailer's right-side, I can help you determine if the wiring issue is originating on your vehicle or on your trailer. If the lighting issue is only on the truck, and not effecting the trailer at all, I agree it sounds like the issue is on the truck.
Using a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, test the vehicle-side trailer connector for each function. This is usually easiest if you can have a buddy inside the vehicle to activate the different light functions while... view full answer...
Before we know if there is something wrong with the controller, there is some troubleshooting we can try.
Based on my research, the Prodigy P2 # 90885 will flash 0.0 when the power control is set to zero. Try adjusting your power level on the controller and see if that provides braking power.
I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha and he confirmed that adjusting your power gains will stop the controller from reading all zeros and provide you breaking power at the trailer. He confirmed... view full answer...
Did you mean the e-brake of your vehicle or did you mean the manual override lever of the controller? The emergency brake isn't connected to the brake controller in any way so it shouldn't cause the controller to activate.
The green light on the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 indicates that the controller senses that a trailer is connected. If the knob on the left side of the controller is turned up and the brakes of the tow vehicle are applied the light should begin to pulsate between orange... view full answer...
I contacted Roadmaster about instructions on cleaning their tow bars. The representative at Roadmaster informed me that you will want to start by soaking the arms with a degreaser. Then, you will want to move the arms in and out and rinse off with water. After rinsing the arms, you will want to dry the arms thoroughly and finally spray a dry silicone spray on the arms. The representative at Roadmaster cautioned NOT to use WD-40. view full answer...
I wish I had better news, but the ER code means that there is an internal problem on the Draw Tite Activator part # 5504 and that it needs to be replaced.
For a new brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the... view full answer...
I can help you with your landing gear issue.
What could be happening is that the main screw and nut are bent or stripped inside the landing gear leg. It could also be the gears at the top of the leg are bad.
I spoke with Lippert and according to them they have a custom set of replacement legs made specifically for the Keystone Montana RV Line. Unfortunately there are no replacement parts like the bolt and nut that for this leg. I would recommend replacing the landing gear. I would... view full answer...
It sounds like your 2008 Dodge Durango has a factory-installed combination 4-way/7-way trailer socket like # 30955 or # HM40975. Both of these replacement parts install using a round 7-pin U.S. Car connector that plugs in to the back of the socket. Please refer to the linked photo to see the rear of part # HM40975 that shows the round plug.
First, test without your adapter.

Yes, the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4412B will fit and work great in the EcoHitch part # 306-X7211 that is a fit for your 2014 Subaru Impreza and has the hitch opening that comes out of the rear bumper panel. The shank of the bike rack will not extend past the opening of the EcoHitch and cause interference with the muffler at all. view full answer...
