You will need to remove the spring loaded hinged cover and the passengers side trim panel to access the wiring in the rear of the vehicle. The instructions (see link) have pictures to show exactly where the connector should be. Page 5 shows the instructions for the 2003-2004 Honda Element. view full answer...
Your 2008 Honda element is set up differently than most vehicles and has a 10 pin connector under the dash to connect the converter to. This connection is essentially a loop circuit that powers the vehicles tow package wiring to the rear spare tire compartment. The converter that is attached to the under dash 10 pin connector is there to protect the vehicles wiring and convert the 5-wire system on the Honda to a 4-wire trailer lighting system.
Once you have the part connected under the... view full answer...
You'll need to remove the ring terminal screws that hold the white wires of the # 8880162 to the trailer but then the other connections simply plug into the female matching end on the trailer since it uses bullet connectors. view full answer...
The internal Tireminder sensors part # TM36FR that you referenced do not have replaceable batteries. Basically they last about 5 years with the non-replaceable battery and then would need to be replaced. view full answer...
While using the Provider ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 13" Silver Mod Wheel part # A13RWMQ, you'll need to torque the lug nuts like part # CE11051 to around 75-85 ft. lbs. view full answer...
The Curt Class I hitch # C11699 does not require trimming anything for installation. I have linked the instructions for this hitch for you to view.
If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.
Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer... view full answer...
Check out page 5 of the instructions I attached for the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118336. This is a different brand connector but it does the same thing as the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 43105 and installs the same way so the instructions will work for you as well.
The instructions I attached show you exactly where the panels are that need to be removed and how to remove them. view full answer...
Yes, you can run the vehicle side trailer connector to the outside of the vehicle if there is a grommet available in the back of the spare tire well. Just make a small slit in the grommet and run the smallest end of the harness through the hole. If you decide to do so you may want to install a mounting bracket to keep the 4-Way connector from dangling behind the vehicle.
I would recommend the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat, item # 18144, along with the No-Drill Mount Bracket, Short, item... view full answer...
The Curt Class I hitch # 11699, for a 2008 Honda Element with single exhaust, does require some widening to enlarge existing access holes on the vehicle. No new holes will have to be drilled. For installation you are looking at about 40 minutes. I have included a link to the instructions below. view full answer...
The white wire with the ring terminal (see photo I edited for you) is indeed a ground wire. It would connect to a factory grounding point under the dash, if available. Otherwise, you can use the included self-tapping screw to attach it to a nearby metal portion of the vehicle body. Before driving the screw in, be sure the area behind it is clear of any wiring that could be damaged. view full answer...
You may have found the wrong connector. It may be difficult to see, but under the access panel, look all the way to the left driver side wall. You will see a gray connector there, but again it may be difficult to see.
We also have a video of a 2007 Element that makes note of the location, but even with our video, it is difficult to see because of the location of the connector. I have added a link to the video below. view full answer...
The safety cables you referenced are required and actually included with the Blue Ox Base Plate kit part # BX2232, so you would not need to pick them out separately.
Next, you will need a tow bar. For that I would go with the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380 as it is the most popular tow bar we have with other Element owners. These come with safety cables.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice... view full answer...
You are correct, the instructions, linked for reference, do not specify how you would run the 4-Way from the connection point on your 2004 Honda Element to he out side of the vehicle.
There are a couple of ways you can do this. First, you can stow the 4-Way in the vehicle and then when needed, pull it out of the back door/hatch. You can close the hatch on the wiring as long as it is not pinched in a locking or hinging mechanism. The weather stripping on the rear door will prevent the... view full answer...

If the vehicle you are installing this on is the 2010 Honda Element that you put in for your vehicle info then you will need a 4-Way connector like the T-One # 118465 and then the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. The blue from the brake controller will... view full answer...
The torque specs for the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e78KR which is a fit for your 2010 Honda Element are listed in the attached installation instructions. There should be a 7.5 amp fuse that will need to be installed in the fuse box when you install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118336.
You will need to check with your local regulations and laws to determine if you need to have side clearance lights on your trailer before you remove them.
Another option to reduce the amperage draw on your trailer would be to convert the lights on the trailer to LEDs as they draw considerably less than incandescent bulbs. Check out the link I provided... view full answer...
The Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System Item # RM-8700 requires diodes to function properly and to ensure protection for both the towed lighting harness and the vehicle's electrical circuits. If you have bulb/socket lights you need to make sure that it's grounded to the chassis otherwise the Invisibrake will not function.
I've attached some info from the installation guide to help you with wiring in the the Invisibrake. view full answer...
