Yes your 2017 Chevy Volt can be towed on a tow dolly. The dolly I recommend is the Demco part # DM9713045 as it comes with a self-contained braking system, a steering axle, and is foldable for easier storage. This is a much easier way to tow a vehicle than trying to use a base plate and tow bar kit.

Most of the time platform bike racks can be a bit heavy but we do have one great solution. The Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HLY94FR which only weighs 20 lbs, can carry up to 35 lbs per bike, and can also fit the Class I 1-1/4 inch hitches available for your 2017 Chevy Volt.

After looking up pictures of your bike you would definitely need to use an adapter bar to carry your bike on a hanging bike rack. As of right now we only have 2 trunk bike racks fits for the 2016 Chevy Volt. We have the Yakima FullBack 2 Bike # Y02634 or the FullBack 3-bike version # Y02633. We have previously tested the Erickson and Tow-Rax O-Track Systems and found them to be compatible with each other. I went out to our warehouse to test the Erickson Anchor Ring # EM59132 on the Buyers Product Super Track # 337ST93 and found it to be compatible as well. There are only certain hitch mounted cargo carriers that will work with the Class I trailer hitch, # C11221, for your 2014 Chevy Volt. The Carpod # M2200 only fits in a 2 inch receiver found on Class III and larger hitches. Since the Class I hitch has a 1-1/4 inch receiver the Carpod will not fit but we do have other carriers that will.

From a convenience standpoint, the # 306-X7186 EcoHitch would probably be easier to live with, as you wouldn't need to remove the receiver when it's not being used but because there'd be a 10 inch height difference between the hitch and the coupler height, and because none of the ball mounts we offer that have the appropriate drop would be long enough to clear the rear bumper, you'll be better off going with the removable receiver model, part # 306-X7180.

For your 2017 Chevy Volt I really like the Curt trailer hitch # C11436 for 2 reasons. First, it costs less. And second, it is a great brand of hitches. When you carry bikes or use a cargo carrier, on the Curt hitch you would have to use stabilization strap # 18050 per Curt's warranty requirements. This hitch has a 1-1/4" receiver opening and a 100 lb tongue weight capacity and 1000 towing capacity.

I have a roof rack solution for you. Unfortunately, it looks like Rhino-Rack not only discontinued your 2500 series roof rack for your 2012 Chevy Volt, but they also do not make any roof rack models that fit a 2018 Chevy Volt.

The angle of the mounting flange should not be an issue as long as you are using the right hand side brake on the right side of the trailer and the left hand assembly on the left side. Assembly # 23-458 is a left hand side and the matching right hand side is # 23-459.
