I have a great flush crossbar system for you. Unfortunately, I confirmed with Thule that they discontinued the Fit Kit 4023 which is required to mount the AeroBlades TH7602B-TH7603B to your 2018 BMW X1. Without that fit kit, there is no way to attach the AeroBlades to your flush rails. We also do not have any other Thule systems that do not extend past the feet that fit your flush rails.

Most likely the T-bolts of the Thule Dock Glide part # TH896 would fit the top channel on the crossbars of your 2018 BMW X1 but you'd need to measure to be sure. The T-bolt measure 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch and has a shank that is .23 inches thick. For your 2018 BMW X1, I recommend using the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top Bike Rack part # HRF2 for two bikes or part # HRF2-3 for three bikes. The reason that I recommend you use this bike rack is because it's design allows for the least amount of contact with the vehicle. I searched and searched and was finally able to find out that BMW does not provide a tow rating for the 2015 X1. Though in the owner's manual it does state that the vehicle can be used to tow.
Usually on smaller SUVs and cross over vehicles the towing capacity is not very high, 1,500 pounds, which I would say is safe for this vehicle. To get a more definitive answer I recommend contacting a BMW dealership.
