It sounds like you have a factory installed 7-way on your 2011 BMW 535i which means that to wire in the P3 # 90195 you would only need to power the controller with the power and ground to your vehicle battery, tap into the brake light switch and then run the output circuit from the controller to the 7-way. Actually, yes, the Thule OutWay platform style trunk mount bike rack, # TH65JV, is not the best option for a vehicle that has a fiberglass or otherwise soft bumper. It is meant more for vehicles that have a metal bumper like some trucks and SUVs.

I think they call that the Sportback. But on a 2011 BMW 535 XDrive GT, that specific model is not included in the Thule fit guides. Later GT models are but not a 2011. Since it isn't really a sedan and its not entirely a wagon it falls into a gray area. None of the other companies that at least have that model in the fit guide show a fit for any trunk mount bike racks for your GT.

First, if you cannot find any additional chain information in the owners manual, I recommend contacting a BMW dealer and speaking with a technician. Most vehicles like yours with the larger rims do require Class S chains if chains can be used at all. Tire chains should be placed on the main drive wheels. On the Thule roof rack, TH753, for the 2003 BMW 530i, you can carry either a cargo box or basket. But the crossbars are not wide enough to carry both at the same time side by side. I have included a link to the installation details for the roof rack below.
