There is no trimming on the bumper when installing the Curt Class II Hitch, # C13136, on your 2011 Audi Q5. I was able to find the manual for the 2018 Audi Q5 and I've attached a the page that it talks about tire chains; from what I'm seeing it says to only install chains on the rear tires, so I would recommend double checking- there is more clearance at the rear of the vehicle which is why I believe this is the recommendation. Regardless of where you install them, you are correct in that you need chains or a fine mesh tire sock that is no taller than 13.5mm.
