Whether you're hauling heavy loads in your bed or cargo area or you're towing a trailer, you will often see the rear of your vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits, 1" above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride that you are used to.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's side or passenger's side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you are hauling off-center loads.

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer, and this helps to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or a passing semi), because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to your vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside more quickly.

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got John with us from Timbren. He's gonna tell us a little bit more about what separates Timbren from the competitors. I appreciate it, I'm glad to be here. Timbren is a suspension specialist. We're based in Whitby, Ontario, so we are a true manufacturer in Canada and we offer a wide range of suspension products from light duty, from commercial all the way up to Overlander, Sprinter applications and trailers.

Now we've talked about a few of the options you guys have and we have plenty of options on our website. Right. We've got the SES kits. We've got the axle-less suspension. Right.

We've got your new coil inserts that just came out recently. But what would you say is your bread-and-butter at Timbren Yeah, no, our SES, suspension enhancement system, is definitely our bread-and-butter. Came out in 2011, won a SEMA New Product Award for best truck suspension. And really, the evolution you just mentioned here, you know, starting in 1968 all the way through now, 2024. But the SES kits are really the core of who we are.

And if you, if you would say at, in the level of stiffness on the market, what would you, would you put yourself in more in a heavy duty side for the SES kits or is it more of a lighter duty Yeah, great question. Lighter duty, we certainly can have a product for commercial and heavy duty, but in '82 when SES was introduced, it was purposely introduced for that, that light duty market. So we start with 1500 and again, go all the way up, but by far really popular with that 1500, 2500 crowd. That kinda leads me into my next question. So we talked about, your specialty is kind of in the lighter duty, but do you have an option for the heavier duty for your sprinter vans and maybe for your truck bed campers Yeah, absolutely.

We do have SES kits for truck beds, truck campers with a higher center of gravity. That creates a new kind of set of problems with the sway side to side. So we have severe duty kits for those. And it uses a single convoluted AON versus a double convoluted to tackle that problem of side to side. And the same thing with the sprinter van. It uses a rectangular shape Aon, but it's there to do the same deal that side to side sway because they're so top heavy, it'll eliminate that. Okay. And then we've had an instance here at etrailer that we had a van that was very, very heavy on the one side. Is there anything that you guys can do personally to help, I would say, I guess customize that kit for that particular user Yeah, by all means we would want that individual to contact us. We would ask a couple questions, see where that weight is distributed and we can actually produce an AON with either a stiffer hardness or durometer or a softer durometer and that will help level it out. So yes, we can take care of that for 'em. And I think that'll really, really help people to get their rigs dialed in because who knows what they're putting in the campers afterwards, after they buy 'em. They come from the manufacturer already heavy on that side and they're trying to load stuff on the other side to try to even it out. But knowing that there's a solution that you can customize for your rig no matter what the weight is on either side is really, really cool. Yeah, absolutely. We're happy to take care of 'em and again, there's no charge for that. Awesome. Now to kind of wrap things up, what sets Timbren apart from a lot of other manufacturers out there Well, I think there's a couple things. We're a family run company and our longevity, you can't deny, 1968 to 2024 and our warranty, we have a lifetime warranty regardless of how old it is. 2007 Dodge Durango

I finally had a chance to try these out and they work great. Granted, I do have what they market an ultra-light travel trailer, but for my configuration of my 2007 Dodge Durango (4.7L), this trailer totals out about 75% of my towing capacity. That being said, this vehicle has an abnormally smooth ride for it's size. Because of this, the weight at the hitch creates a slight sag in the rear when weighted over 400 lbs. It also created some suspension characteristics I didn't like, like the slow bounce over undulations. I was advised my shocks were in perfect condition and utilizing stiffer shocks would not prevent the sag and would make the overall ride too tight for me. This was the reason for looking into this option.

Installation was as simple as it gets (pull off the old and put on the new). The only tools (if you want to call it that) are possibly a couple of 2x4 blocks (of course you're going to need a jack to jack up your vehicle). 4 inches total was needed to properly seat them. It took a total of 30 minutes, but 20 minutes was me pulling out my jack and jack stands, finding blocks, and taking my sweet time. My Durango rode as level as expected after installation. Photos would not show anything noticeable without actually measuring it (about 450 lbs on the tongue with my particular trailer - see photos). I also didn't have to adjust my mirrors, which was inherent in the slight sag I had before. It took bumps well and the ride was not as bouncy as before, more firm and controlled. The ride without the trailer is noticeably firmer, and with little bumps you can tell they're making contact. Mostly noticeable over speed bumps where my Durango would normally float over them due to the long travel. My Durango inherently didn't ride like a truck or large SUV, more like a sedan. Now, it "sorta" rides more like a truck. Not a deal breaker, but if you like your truck to keep riding smooth, these might not be for you.

Pros:
Works as advertised.
Easy installation.
Keeps your vehicle level.
Firmer more controlled ride. Removed annoying bounces.
Great quality build.

Cons:
With the clearance from your axel to your bump stop now ~1.5 inches, bumps will be felt if making contact (-1 star for me, but if this is not an issue for your application, you should add the star back).

Overall, I would highly recommend this product, even for a smaller SUV like my Dodge Durango. That being said, it won't have the same smooth ride with the long travel as before, but definitely worth it if you're towing with the same type of vehicle.

After a year of use, the product continues to perform as expected. I have specifically put about 6-8 trips with this product and I have not had any issues. This included many miles on the highways and some trail driving. The product continues to perform well, assisting on absorbing undulations and helps keep the vehicle stable and level. I did not mention this before, but its important to know that this product is only a supplement to an already stable suspension and correctly-weighted setup. If properly used, this product will enhance your driving experience, but it will not fix any overweight or setup issues. I still highly recommend this product.

I'm using them on a Chrysler Aspen (Durango) and they work great when loaded. When unloaded on the highway they do not allow enough suspension travel and cause a rougher ride. There are other types of stops that are progressive and would probably help with this problem.

The product has worked as described on the website. They have been excellent as a suspension enhancement. My Durango used to squat 3 and one half inches before installation of the Timbren support. Now when hooking up my boat my Durango goes down 2 inches and stops. I have great support and better control of my vehicle especially when fully loaded on a family vacation. Great product.

Lots of weight on 2005 Durango with loaded trailer. These things really keep Durango level and ride is nice. Real easy to install. No load on pothole road can be rough, but worth the price anyway. Have to give a little to get alittle. I would buy again for sure.

2007 Dodge Durango

put these in the other day. These went into the rear of a 2007 dodge durango. these snap in for the durango. I had a little difficulty putting them in. I ended up using alittle grease to get them in to place. Once they popped in they seemed pretty secure. The car right is alittle stiffer now which I expected. I personally like the ride better now. I have not towed the trailer yet which weighs 3000lbs-6000lbs on average but I feel confident the car will sit better while under load

I have had these before and had some experience putting them on Jeep Wranglers. These are extremely easy to install on a 06 Dodge Durango. I needed some extra help for the tongue weight on pulling an enclosed trailer and these were the ticket! First round trip was 1500 miles and they performed perfectly.

I know it will be lovely when loaded or the trailer on. However,it rides like a wagon empty with brand new premium shocks and struts empty. Thud thud thud. You really cannot feel the shocks or suspension. Found exact same item plentiful for 60 bucks on eBay after I bought these for 250. I may cut these in half or put air bag on. I do not like the ride empty. No hard feelings. It is a good product maybe just not for me.

Installation was a breeze, removed old bump stops installed Timbrens in about 30 minutes. Haven’t put a load on them yet so I’ll update later. Installed on a 2008 Silverado 2500HD..

About a 1/2 inch difference in gap at the bump stop perch but still within parameters. Truck sits perfect with trailer attached. Haven’t towed yet. After towing if they perform like they should will upgrade to a 5 star. Easy to install, definitely needed 2x4 and jack. 2011 Silverado ext cab with 30 ft Genisis 5th wheel.

Was able to install these with a 15mm flex head ratchet wrench and lifted the rear of the truck to make it easier. 30 minutes to take off 4 nuts and put em back on. 2 minutes assembling the timbrens with the added spacer. I have a f350 with a salter and plow. Loaded with salt the lights shoot up and in the snow ?? it’s like hitting hyper drive and you’re blinded. These helped big time. Very happy so far.

The pro: The longer, heavier bump stops worked great when hauling my mustang home from Chicago. The truck stayed level and handled great.
The con: I had to remove the bump stops for everyday use. They limited my suspension travel causing a stiffer ride.

I am so glad I bought these for my truck. I was able to install them myself using a jack and jackstands. The ride is bit rougher now; but the suspension is totally awesome compared to before. I am able to haul a bit more weight when needed.

Haven’t had it on long, but so far so good. 1999 F350 dually. Bolted up nicely. Total job took 10 minutes. Have hauled two gooseneck loads of hay and truck drives SO much better. Nice and level. Money well spent so far.

The Timbren SES (Bump Stop) replacement for the 3rd Gen Sequoia is a simple and effetive solution to reduce vehicle sag when trailering heavy loads. You definately want to use the included spacer as the pics will show I still had 2 finger clearance above the axle to allow for OEM suspension travel. I pulled my 29ft boat back to back with / without the Timbren bump stops for a ride quality test. Without the bump stops, my 2024 Sequoia rear end was crushed, resulting in a rough ride and poor handling characteristics. With the Timbern bump stops, the rear sag was reduced signifincantly, and the vehicle drove much better. YES, you will feel and occasional bottom out feeling on abrupt G-out dips... But it is no worse than without the Timberns as the stock springs were crushed. My daily drive feels exactly the same as I have the perfect gap between the Timbren bump stop and the axle allowing the OEM suspension to float over road surface without engaging the bump stops. VERDICT: Time will tell with varied passenger loads, speeds, road surface bumps etc., but my initial impression is 7 out of 10. Ultimately, I would prefer air bags, and may install them along with the Timbrens whih I can swap back to the oem bump stop in less than 15 minutes. NOTE: I was able to install the Timbren bump stops without going under the Sequoia. I simply raised the vehicle frame aprox. 4" withoug picking up the rear tire. This gave me adequate room to reach in over the tire and remove the 3 12MM bolts holding the OEM bump stop in place with a 3/8" ratchet and a 4" extension. Then, I put the Timbren bump stop in place and lightly threaded the upper bolt to hold in place. After installing the two lower bolts and smart torquing, then you tighten the top bolt. This allows the bracket to seat against the frame fully as the top bolt hole is slotted to allow movement druing install. Pics will show spacers installed above the bump stops, Installed bump stops unloaded with 2 finger gap, spacers loaded with 750 lbs of tongue weight, and lastly, will show Sequoia stance while loaded. NOTE: The last picture will show my Sequoia loaded WITHOUT the Timbren SES (Bump Stops) and the vehicle is sagging heavily.

The timbrens actually did what they were suppose to do. However, once I starter driving out west I notice the timbrens were riding on the axle which cause the speedometer to jump around depending on the road. I would recommend them if you are hauling or towing a camper or RV. I was going to contact etrailer about maybe removing a spacer for one set however the other set came as one unit. The bottom line is the Timbrens does stabilize your load for safe travels. I will be contacting etrailer soon to assist in correcting the problem...Road trip from Idaho,Colorado,Wyoming,and Utah were beautiful... Thank you etrailer

Definitely a must have when towing..stiff without a load but night and day difference while towing my travel trailer, better traction, steering and braking. Easy quick install..only issue I had was with the long bolts they sent with the spacer kit (optional for lift) the bolt diameter was too wide to fit through the holes on the bracket..but a trip to the local hardware store took care of that.

Pros: Cheaper and easier to install than airbags, do the job when load is enough to compress the shock, with added weight or towing, then it stiffens the rear very nicely.
Cons: Doesn't do anything until there is 2-3cm of compressed shock. It sits above the contact point, doesn't touch. Under normal driving, there is no benefit/improved stiffness/anti sway in rear or a leveling of the factory rear sag in a 2022 or newer Toyota Tundra.
If had it to do over, would have put some kind of spacer in between product and upper included bracket, the supplied bolt is long enough to accommodate, to eliminate the gap, and lift the rear 1-2 cm. Should do it anyway, maybe when swapping to summer wheels next month.

I’d seen similar products rated in the 4,000 lb ratings but I went with these. I’m not a mechanic but I removed the factory bump stops and installed both these in 30 minutes or less. I used my rolling jack and lifted from the drop hitch and easily removed the old ones and soapy water and 1/4 twist and these were on. Placed a block of wood in the space between these coils and lowered the jacks then pressed it with my tractor to confirm full engagement. I carry a lot of tools on a 2020 Chevy 2500 I do feel a bit of butt bounce on large bumps but other than that I’m very pleased.

The order with Will at etrailer was great. He was very helpful and knowledgeable, Installation was not easy but not too bad, The hardest part was removing the factory pieces I removed them from below which was a blind nut removal operation. This is on a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter motorhome. After removal of the factory pieces I discovered that access is much easier on top between the tire and the mud flap, I turned the front wheels inward and they didn't have to be removed. The front of the motorhome had to be raised quite a bit to get the Timbren piece jnserted. Also I learned to tighten the bolt and nut in the Timbren bumper as much as possible before installation because there is no access to the bolt head when tightening the top nut to keep the bolt from turning, preventing tightening the nut.
