Most OEM coil suspensions have a difficult time supporting heavy front loads like winches, brush guards and snowplows. If your coil springs are totally squished under a load, the lack of shock absorption can be harsh on your backside, especially if you spend long hours sitting in your vehicle while clearing snow. Insert these helper springs in between the individual coil loops in your front coil springs to help defeat driver fatigue and to better support heavy front loads.

Coil SumoSpring installed between rungs of coil spring

Each doughnut-shaped spring has H-shaped channels at the top and bottom that fit to a rung of each coil in your front coil springs. Inside each round spring, a core of microcellular polyurethane foam adds cushioning between your coils. The cushioning absorbs shock, but also works progressively to better support front loads, and it keeps the front end more level. Unbumpify your ride with these SumoSprings for coil suspensions.

As advertised, simple install and dampens sway in my classB motorhome.

by:
2008 Dodge Ram Pickup

These seem to make a big difference on the sagging front end of my '08 Ram 1500. Tip: Use LOTS of dish soap and install on a warm, sunny day. My first attempt at installation was on a cold day and the springs were inflexible and would NOT go on. They went on easily when warm.

Still working great. No problems or regrets!

by:

2009 GMC Sierra CC 2WD
It does take some
time and sweat equity to install. I think some may have a harder time if both tires are not off the ground at once. Lifting only one side, the front sway bar may transfer some of that compression to the tire in the air possibly causing that spring to have less room between coils.

They work as advertised however may need not be for everyone. I like how I can take corners at higher speed as if it is on rails (I also have the rear sumos). No nosedive during emergency stops. Not too intrusive when driving on smooth pavement but over rough or broken road can be tiresome over time. I guess they took a little more "spring" out then I was hoping for.

I am considering taking them out and installing a larger front sway bar.

by:

Went in quite easily with great pics

by:

Helps with trailer squat tremendously - Installation was very difficult to expand strings wide enough

by:

These springs did not really change the unloaded ride quality. They also added about 1/2 of lift to the front of my truck. I wasn't expecting that, but it worked out for me. I installed a 2 inch front leveling kit about a year ago and I wished I went with a 2.5 leveling kit.

by:

They don't seem to be the right ones for my silverado 1500 4x4. Too much play between spring even without lifting vehical?

You mentioned that they had too much play and I wanted to see if you could send a picture of them installed.

John

The instructions stated that when you install them that you put the bottom on and move up or down on the spring until top is snug and pop in bottom. On my truck even on the ground there is no area where this happens.

Product came as described, fast shipping, works great. Bought it to stiffen front end because of snowplow. Thanks

Easy to install, didn't affect ride, made carrying my plow much better.

Installed the SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for suspension - Rear Axle on my Ram 1500. Easy install, if you follow their enclosed directions. It took longer to jack up the truck and secure it than the actual installation. Any negative comments that were written about the installation are most likely based on the ability NOT to read and follow the written directions. Took a drive after installation and immediately felt the difference in handling. Actually installed them to assist in the 30-foot travel trailer I am towing with a 1500 Ram. No doubt it is going to assist with the sway bars already on the trailer. In my opinion, it was a good investment for the price vs the results.

by:

2021 Highlander front with drive V6. Product is right on the money for description. My Bass boat is 3900lbs, definitely took a 1-1/4 out from the sag. Also, extremely less bounce. I would prefer to have air bags, though no one makes them for my year. This is a great alternative.

by:

Works exactly how I needed. The Ride is still very nice. There's about 350lbs with the weight of the box & rack. Suspension in the rear used to sag a bunch, even with a 2" suspension lift.

by:

I have a 2015 Subaru Outback. When towing it went from a mushy rear end to a nice stiffness. Max tongue weight is 275# and with 220# on a recent trip (~2000# trailer weight) it only squatted the rear end about an inch (after rolling back and forth to let it settle).

Previously I was getting instability above 60mph especially when hitting the bumps at the ends of bridges. On my recent trip I was able to hit 80mph with the car feeling totally planted.

When totally empty you do get just the smallest hint of a 'truck like' ride but I typically carry some tools and other stuff all the time and that dampens it.

For install I found it helped to sort of feed the sumo into the coil as you kinda roll your hand over the part juming into the groove.

by:

Installed the CSS-1168R Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper spacers on a 2011 Honda Ridgeline 4 wheel drive rear springs. Installation took about 45 minutes including removal of tires. Once spacer was started the installation was easy.
Zip ties were a little more difficult because of the dust strut covers installed by Honda.

by:

Installation was a bit more difficult than anticipated, however, for an 81-year-old guy, most everything is. The SumoSprings work just fine. I feel like they've reduced the sway and increased stability while hauling our Tab320 trailer with our Subaru Outback. Service from eTrailer was fast.

by:

Shipping was fast and packaged well. The material looks and feels durable and easy to install but is a little loose on the springs, and not as snug as I thought. Although once I did a test drive around the neighborhood it tighten itself on the coil springs and hope it stays that way!

by:

Pretty easy to install. During my first drive with them installed I heard a lot of thumping even over small bumps, but it seemed to work itself out on the second drive. I think it helps level out the slight sag in the rear of the car, and the front wheel drive which used to slip frequently when towing gets better traction. Be aware that for a 2005 Highlander, there are no holes or zip ties, and you can't get the Helpers to stay much higher than the lowest coil. I think them sliding down is what eliminated the thumping.

by:

Work well, tow a 17 aluminum boat with the 2021 ascent. takes some of the shock and squat out of the rear suspension. Vehicle tows well with it. Glad i purchased them

by:

etrailer has been my go to store for high quality for towing my boat with my Promaster, towing my camper with my Nissan Frontier, and for rigging up my RAM 1500 pickup for towing whatever heavy stuff needed towing. If you want something that IS CHEAP go to the jungle website but if you need something GOOD go to etrailer.com. Once it gets to your house to shop spend some time with their how-to videos so you don't waste time trying to install your new whatseythingamabobberdingdong! Trust me, I can computer and I can spel and tipe.

by:

Did not fit the 2022 Subaru Outback as advertised making these a total cash grab on etrailers part. Buyer Beware. Incorrect fitment guide means expensive mistake.

by:

Install went fairly easy once I figured out the best spot to put the jack to lift the van. Really helped to have an oil filter wrench to get the old springs off the back. Took it out for a drive after an much better cornering and much less effect from wind and 18-wheelers. This was on a fairly windy day. No big difference in softness of the ride.

by:

I was very excited about these for my 4x4 2015 Nissan Frontier. I am not completely displeased with them because they do make a mild difference over bumps, but they aren't worth over 100 bucks no way, the fact that I had to CUT THEM to fit due to them being too long made me feel like the company does not due their research when manufacturing them. It was so long that it lapped the beginning on it, so in order to have them installed as shown on the instructions I had to cut nearly 3 inches off... Which meant I had to comely install them, mark then uninstall, cut to fit, then install again. For an item to cost this much I expected better build quality.

Bang for buck it's not worth it, it's overpriced and I wouldn't recommend them for that cost.

When it comes to adding some extra support to improve your towing experience I love the SumoSprings because they're easy to install and they provide you with progressive load support that doesn't effect the unloaded ride quality on your vehicle. With that said, the TSS-107-40 (for trailers) and CSS-1168F (for coil springs) are not the parts you're looking for. Because of the 800-1200-lbs tongue weight of your trailer, I recommend using the SumoSprings # SSF-111-47 (front) and # SSR-127-47...

The Timbren Vehicle Suspension, part # TGMFK15A is not designed to make the ride softer on your 2014 Chevrolet Express van. The Timbrens are designed to actually do the opposite. As more weight is added to the van, they become more rigid. They will help with the sag but not make the van ride easier.
