Firestone Ride-Rite Air Spring Basics

Firestone Ride-Rite springs are designed to increase safety and reduce the strain on your vehicle when you are hauling heavy loads or towing a heavy trailer. The springs partner with your existing rear suspension system to help keep your truck level, maintain even load distribution and increase stability. Hauling heavy loads or towing a heavy trailer can make the rear of your truck sag and the front end rise. This puts more strain on your rear axle and reduces contact between your front tires and the road, causing problems with braking, steering control and traction. By adding air springs to your rear suspension, you can help to level your truck and improve braking and handling. The air springs also help to level your headlight beams and reduce wear on your tires.

Adjustable Air Pressure

Firestone Ride-Rite air spring airline installation

The air pressure in your Ride-Rite springs can be adjusted manually, side to side, to compensate for off-center loads. A centered load improves the stability of your truck by reducing body roll. The air springs will also help to absorb road shock and to soften contact between your axle and frame. This prevents bottoming out, thus improving ride comfort. Route the air line tubing for the springs to your truck's bumper to provide easy access to the manual inflation valves.

Air Spring Construction

RED Label spring construction

Unlike standard Ride-Rite air springs, the RED Label air springs operate up to 150 psi to maximize its weight capacity. The springs have four layers of reinforced rubber to ensure durability and enhance load support. A braided wire girdle creates the double-convoluted shape of each air spring, increasing the burst pressure of the spring. The rubber springs are attached to corrosion-resistant metal end plates with a time-proven, rolled crimp seal that keeps the bags securely anchored.

Air Spring Installation

Each RED Label Extreme Duty kit includes vehicle-specific brackets, fasteners, and hardware for fast, no-drill installation. The hardware installs directly on your axle and frame and the air springs install onto the mounting points provided by the brackets. Additional equipment like control panels, compressors, and air tanks are sold separately.

2015 Dodge Ram Pickup

The Ride-Rite Extreme Duty Air Springs (RED Label) worked great on my RAM 3500 DRW. I pull a 40' Montana 5th wheel. 15,000 lbs and about 4,000lbs on the truck bed. I had the NON Red Label rated at 5,000 lbs and blew one airbag on extremely bumpy Illinois Interstate. I have put about 20,000 miles on the RED label airbags rated to 7,500lbs and have been VERY happy.
P.S. I am not one of those Saggy rear end trucks that shine their headlights in your eyes thanks to the support I get from these air bags. Level ride = level lights

Fast and great shipping...

The kit
is easy to install.... you'll need to loosen the inner spring u-bolt to get er next to the spring.....
I'm impressed with 50 psi... jacked it up nicely....

I have no complaints about the product. The instructions were good, everything went together without a problem. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star review is because my bags had been previously installed and apparently returned. There were installation marks on the brackets and several of the hardware bags had been opened. Most of the hardware was loose inside the box and a few washers slipped out. I paid full price for something that wasn't brand new.

After a year of light use, I have no problems. Airbags are holding up great.

by:

Had to replace the final hose connector into the air bag on one side, it was leaking. The cut was good, so I think there was something just not right about that fitting. Other than that, these have been great and no problems holding air pressure on the long term. My understanding is that this specific model series can accommodate lifting the truck from the body/frame off the ground and therefore hang the rear axle without the fear of ripping the bags. That is why I went with this series specifically, however now that I've owned them for a year - they have been great! I just do a manual fill and installed the schrader valves at the rear bumper area by the license plate. I do not tee them together into a single schrader valve, that way if you need it, you can level the truck side to side. This is very important need if you have a camper with a slide out since they typically add a additional 500 lbs to the side with the slide out.

Extremely well, I would use these air springs again!

Had these air bags for a year defiantly worth every penny. Buy once cry once. Loaded 40 foot goose neck and the truck won't squat.

Love these airbags, easy to install and they work great for my pickup, I'd recommend 10/10 to anyone looking.

2007 Ram 2500

Well worth it! You don't need a air compressor! Just a bicycle tire pump is all you need. Just hook up your trailer to the hitch and Jack it up to get the weight off the truck and bags. And about one pump is about one psi. I have 50 psi in mine. I have a 70 gallon fuel tank in my truck 2007 dodge 2500 quad cab and a 21 ft trailer.no more weight distribution hitch for me. I'll put my long drop back on! Bevel the edges of the lower brackets with a file..no grinder!...just the edges.scrape the paint off too.where the u bolts on where your leaf springs and your bottom bracket meet. 2 or 4 wheel drive. It has to be a right fit!...you'll have to can't it and put one side in and tap gently and it'll be up against your leaf and between your u bolts.
Then line up your holes on top and put your nut in snuggly on top tighten snuggly. Then lift the side up that's not against the leaf and tighten the heck out of the bottom flange bolt with a long 9/16 box end wrench or maybe a socket.blue locktight!....you don't need to mark it that way...saves so MUCH trouble! The u bolts hold it in place and you nut on top too....no marking! ...good luck!

2009 Dodge Ram Pickup

Going with 3 stars this time due to the warehouse issue. It's not that I needed the parts sooner or they held me up doing anything, but the web said "should deliver Thursday" and I wanted to take them to the frame shop with me on Friday that is an hour away. I'll end up putting them on myself now, which isn't a big deal. The reason I got when I called and asked why they hadn't shipped out yet was they "were in a non-stocking location" and they "could be 30 ft high where we can't reach them". I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would stock things like this or tell the customer "we have them in stock.....we just can't get to them." I'm sure it some COVID excuse like the entire country is dealing with so that's my only complaint. Everything else was just fine as usual with my orders.

2006 Dodge Ram Pickup

So far I like the product, it looks well made, is heavy duty not light duty :-) I have not installed yet but looks pretty straight forward. My only complaint if you can call it one is I would like to see the packaging beefed up a bit, it traveled across the country and was a bit beat up, seemed to stay intact thou. Other wise looks good. Thank You.

  • Can Firestone Air Helper Springs be Installed With Curt Underbed Gooseneck Hitch on 2012 Ram 3500
The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2701 will fit your 2012 Ram 3500 with the Curt # C60682 installed. The # 60682 attaches to the outside of the frame. The # F2701 installs between the truck frame and rear suspension so the two will not interfere with each other. I also recommend using an air compressor kit like the Firestone Air Command II # F2219 if you're planning to install air bags. This system will allow you to adjust each bag individually from the truck cab so there...

The Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # F2701 will have heavier brackets to support the Red Label Extreme Bags. • Will Firestone Red Label Bellows Fit With Standard Duty Ride Ride Brackets On A 2005 Dodge Ram
The Firestone # F2703 uses different mounting bracket than the # F2299 so swapping the bellows out wouldn't work. To be completely honest the best option when it comes to this situation is simply to replace the entire system with a new kit because swapping out singular parts will end up costing you more than the kit and you won't have a warranty. The correct red label kit for your 2005 Dodge Ram Pickup is actually the # F2701 and not the # F2703. With this you'll be increasing the psi...

5,000 lbs in the bed of your 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 is quite a bit of weight. First I'd recommend checking with Ram to be sure you aren't exceeding the capacity. For a super heavy setup like you have the suspension enhancement I would recommend is the Firestone Ride Rite Red Label Extreme Duty kit part # F2701 which can provide up to an additional 7,500 lbs of suspension support. You'll want a heavy duty compressor to fill the bags like the Firestone part # F2097. This will allow you to...
