Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Pacer Performance Hi-Five LED truck cab light kit. Now this is going to be styled after the 2007 to 2014 Chevy and GM factory roof lights on those trucks, so this is either going to replace that for you, or just give you some lights on the top of your vehicle to match with those. You'll get one longer light bar and then the two smaller ones to go on either side, so this is going to give you a total of five points of light. We'll have two LEDs per our smaller ones, but they're kind of bunched together so it really just looks like one light, and then three clusters in our longer one.It also comes with the quick splices, a switch, a length of red wire with a fuse in place, some other hardware, long bolts, and the screws for the switch, as well as some little rubber washers to put over those screws to help maintain a more water tight fit for this, so most of the things that you'll probably need for your install. One thing that's important to keep in mind with this is that you do have to make some modifications to the vehicle that you're mounting this to.

You're going to have to drill in through your roof to get this mounted up. So just keep that in mind. So if you don't feel terribly comfortable with drilling a little hole through your roof line, you might want to find another solution. Really not that hard to do, just something to keep in mind there. Now one thing I want to show you guys before we move too much further forward is what those lights look like when they are illuminated. So I'm going to connect my power and ground, you can see that light comes on there.

So not super bright, but enough to give you that big rig look for your yourself truck, and then I'll hookup a big one as well so you can see what that's going to look like. Unfortunately I can't hook them up all at once just with what I've got set up here today. We'll connect our power and our ground again for that big guy, and I'm going to turn the lights out in the studio so you can get a better idea of what that looks like. So we'll have our three little clusters of three for that light. This isn't going to cause any issues with other drivers being blinded by your lights, it just gives you that big rig style, as I mentioned.Turn our lights back on, and we'll go over the rest of the specs.

Now these are LEDs, so that means you don't really have to worry about ever having to change out the bulbs. Once they're installed, they should be good for a very long time, pretty much the lifetime of the light itself. And that also means that we won't have to worry about too much power being drawn from our factory system, or from our factory lighting. It's not going to require a lot to run those, and they're not going to get too hot. A lot of times with incandescent bulbs, those can be the big issues is the heat and the power that they require, as well as having those bulbs to replace because of the brittle filaments breaking down over time.

But no worries with that with this, since we've got our LEDs.Again, we do get that little toggle switch. So you can run this a couple of different ways. You can wire it into your factory running light circuit if you want, or you can run this directly to a switch powered off your battery, and be able to turn those on and off manually from there. So you can mount this up somewhere on your dash, it's not terribly huge. So it should be able to fit just about anywhere you'd want it, maybe down lower on your dash or up closer to your air vent or something. You just want to make sure that wherever you mount this it isn't going to interfere with any of your other wiring, of course you don't want to mess with your airbag, or anything like that, and just find a good spot for it that you can reach it without having to really stretch and impair your driving or anything like that. The quick splices that come with the kit, these do an okay job of making your wiring connections. I would honestly suggest switching these out for something a little bit more durable. In our experience here, anytime I've seen these, they typically will come apart. They just press close with this little latch, and if they get bumped or jostled, and whenever you're going down the road, you can hit a pothole or something, these can get jostled loose. So I just don't have a lot of faith in these little quick splices. I would suggest getting just a regular butt connector, insulated butt connector, or even a heat shrink. This is going to be wired pretty much mostly inside your truck, so you shouldn't have to worry about too much water protection, which is the advantage with the heat shrink butt connectors, but I would definitely suggest something that's a little bit more sturdy with that. Or if you do want to use these, just make sure you crimp them down real well, and then maybe give them some tape and a wire loom to go around them, just to make sure that you get a little extra protection. These are designed to conform to the shape of your roof. So you might notice that they have a little bit of a taper to them, or a little bit of a curve, and then they're going to sit on this large foam pad, so that's also going to help to conform to our roof line. So you'll have the foam pad that's going to provide water protection around the lights, so you shouldn't have any ingress of water there. Again, those screws also come with the little rubber grommets, so as you put that long screw in, it'll have something to seal it up at the top so you don't have to worry about water getting down there. So pretty straightforward install, might just take a little bit of patience a little bit of time, measure twice, cut once whenever it comes to drilling those holes into your cab. It does meet SAE specifications. As far as the sizing, our long light is going to be 15 and a half inches long by two and three eights inches wide, and one and a 16th inch tall. The sidelights are going to be three and three quarter inches long by two and three eights inches wide and one and a 16th inch tall. It is backed by a 60 day limited warranty from Pacer, and that's going to do it for our look at the Pacer Performance Hi-Five LED truck cab light kit..

Great lights replacing my original ones that came on the truck.

by:

fairly quick shipping..my truck has never had lights...but have installed them on every truck I've owned ( 4 ), This is my 5th. Everything was in the box. It even came with little washers for the screw heads. I used silicone just in case. I was very skeptical of the supplied ground wires but they all worked!!.. I decided on the old style bulbs this time. Might switch if they don't last then I will go to the LED's. I used a different toggle switch than the one supplied. Really like the set so far. I have never seen a truck like mine with cab lights. Maybe others will try it now?

by:

Look good on the truck, one of the center lights became loose so it was not making great contact and therefore was out. I got it working again, but it was a hassle taking the light off the truck to just spin the light a little bit.

by:

The cab lights I ordered came in a timely manner and they were oem quality!

by:

Great product, I replaced existing lights with these. Hole pattern was exactly the same as my old lights. I had two issues not related to the product. My old lights only had one wire through the cab. They had a jumper wire that went from bulb socket to mounting screw for the light.
As far as replacing existing lights goes, this product is great.
For a complaint, the instructions nor video showed me what the little rubber washers were for. Since there were 10 of these I assumed they were for the mounting screws. I used mine for lens cover screws.
I also used silicone under foam pad, on top of foam pad, on mounting screws, and after install was complete I added it at base of lens and around base of light. All not needed but cant hurt to keep water out.

Definitely reccomend this companies products.

The Pacer Performance High-5 lights on my 1992 Ford F350 are high quality. They fit the original screw holes perfectly. The LED lights are bright. The wire connectors were different, but that was no problem. I cut off the connectors and used crimp-on connectors, then taped the connections securely with electrical tape.

by:

One year on, these lights are holding up very well. Installation was pretty simple, I did have to break out a drill to enlarge the factory holes - I believe the factory lights used sheet metal screws to attach to the top of the cab through the lens and these use a metal stud attached to the light base with a nut that tightens from inside the cab (it's been a year and my memory is fuzzy). Outwards though these lights look completely stock. They sealed well and I've experienced no issues with water leaks. 100% suggest these to anyone wanting to replace or upgrade their stock lights to LED while retained the OE look.

by:

Lights and everything arrived quickly, everything needed was in the packaging. The only thing I did differently was I wired the lights into my existing light switch instead of a separate switch, just bought 16 gauge wire from hardware store. I added some t10 LED lights which look awesome at night! During the day LED or incandescent bulbs are not very visible anyway. Overall awesome product!

by:

They look great! Pretty simple install, everything you need is included and the easy splice makes it even easier to wire everything together. They give you 6, so I just used the last one to tap into my headlights and they turn on automatically whenever those are on. LED’s are pretty bright and that’s what I went with, but they also give you the classic bulbs to choose from as well. 4 stars for now just to see how they hold up!

by:

After reading not so good reviews on other cab lights I found these and saw nothing but good things about them and when I had them installed I was more than happy with them. I would recommend to anyone wanting to put cab lights on their truck

by:

Good set of lights , actually need another set. Very happy with them

by:

The lights were purchased as replacement for the existing lights already on the truck, so all the hard work of drilling the holes and running the wiring was already done. What little installation I had to do was fairly easy, and simple. The lights match the originals exactly and you can't tell them apart from the old ones. The package was shipped promptly and arrived undamaged within a few days. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the order and I will be using your company for future purchases and I will definitely recommend your company to other people who need the type of things you supply.

by:

I have ordered many times and have always had great experience!!

by:

Purchased and installed the cab lights from etrailer.com. Shipped quickly, reasonably priced and a very easy installation. They look great on the truck. There some great write ups on the web explaining how to easily drop the headliner. Thanks etrailer.

by:

Bought these lights about a year ago and they look and work great! The lighting makes a perfect red and they are very bright as well, but that can depend on the bulbs you decide to use. Easy installation too!

by:

Great lights looks amazing on my GMC, i could not be happier. I had the installed as no one wants me wiring anything. The LED bulbs are nice and bright. I would recommend these lights to anyone.

by:

The smoked lens look great! On my 2017 black 3500 RAM. Install took about 45 minutes. LED bulbs need to go the right way to work. Shipping was quick, and thanks to Jason and everyone at etrailer for making the ordering process easy.

by:

Lights exactly as described. Package came with both LED bulbs and incandescent bulbs. Easy to install. I watched the installation video which was very helpful. I only installed 4 as my vintage truck has a middle rotating beacon.

by:

Straightforward install. Worst part was dropping the headliner. Tapped into the power source at passenger side kick panel in my 97 Ford. Very happy with my purchase.

by:

Had these lights on my truck for a year now and they work great the installation was pretty easy. I installed them on my ram 1500

by:

These have only been on for a few days but they seem to be a very reliable option if your truck needs cab lights. Straight forward install and I was pleased to find out the bases and lenses are molded of a nice poly plastic. I was worried the bases would be weak and flimsy. I ordered two sets, one set for a 2000 f350 that never had cab lights, and a second set for a 2002 f350 that already had cab lights but were aged and weathered. I was able to get my drilling dimensions from one truck and just transfer over to the other. Simply dropped the headliner, marked my holes on masking tape, drilled holes, mounted lights, and ran wiring down to behind my headlight switch tapped into the running lights wire. I did go the extra mile and added some silicone around my bolt and wire holes for a little extra insurance prior to putting the headliner back in place. I was a little intimidated to start with but after all said and done I would have no issue doing this over again on multiple trucks. I'm not a professional mechanic by trade, just handy enough to do my own exhaust, stereo, and lighting installs as well as oil changes etc. These cab lights can be installed by novice wrench turners. etrailer does however need to update their website pictures though. The updated version of these lights have studs molded into the bases so they are held on by a nut and washer from inside the cab. The pictures on etrailer must be a previous version that were fastened by sheet metal style screws screwed in from the topside. Pacer Performance website shows the proper product, etrailer should make that a priority to follow suit and update their literature. The molded studs is a much better design! Kudos Pacer Performance!

Look just lock factory

Excellent product. Very good price. The replacement marker lights were almost an identical match to the original lights on my 1983 Ford F150. A very easy install. The truck looks great! Purchasing the lights on line with etrailer.com was a snap. I'm very happy so far with the service, product, and follow up. I'll definitely consider etrailer.com for further purchases as I work to restore this pickup. Thank you etrailer.com!!!
