Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Fit perfect. hub caps are a little loose but holding tight. Rims has a minimal wobble but acceptable going on my old 1951 3/4 ton gmc replacing the original split rims. Very tight fit had to peen the balance weights so they did not hit steering joints the other reviews were helpfull

by:

Easy to deal with … great customer service and very fast and protected shipping. Wheels are quality with nice finish. Buying to use on our 1953 Chevy 3600 to replace locking rims.

by:

Didnt use these for a trailer but rather a 1948 Chev 3/4 ton truck. Coulnt find anyone to touch the original split rims for new tires. Fit perfect with the offset. Good finish on rims. I added hub caps and beauty rings and they look great.

Increadibly pleased. etrailer has been a pleasure to work with. Quality product and quality experience. Wheels arrived much quicker than expected, packaged very well with no damage. Quality wheel that take paint well if black is not the desired color. Excellent experience!

by:

The 16-in wheels work fine on a 54 Chevy truck 3600 they're very close to the tie rod ends on the front but they work

by:

as always the right parts good pricing and fast delivery. the only thing I could find local were spoked wheels just don't feel that they are safe to run on these bigger trailers. Thanks E Trailer for Great Service

by:

Great doing business with trailer, order was shipped quickly with no charge. These wheels look great with the powder coat finish. Thank you for the great service.

by:

by:

by:

Rims look great and came fast. Putting on a Ford pickup replacing split rims

by:

every thing holding up well

by:

Found out about etrailer Monday morning, called for wheels/rims around Noontime and have them here in the Napa Valley at 3:00 in the afternoon on Friday…that’s phenomenal sales and service if I’ve ever seen it! Would use you all again in a heartbeat!!

by:

ust some feedback that might be valued. I purchased the rims on above order #. they were not used until now. I used these rims on my completely original and stock 1954 Chevrolet 3600 3/4 ton truck. I used 215/85/16 10ply tires. Everything fit with no mods, tie rod is close but good. This was a major improvement over my lock ring wheels and bias tires. Good made in USA wheels at a good price. thanks

I ordered 3 wheels on Wednesday August 31st, and they were on my front door step on Saturday September 3rd,2022. I expected them to be here in 7-10 days. Great service from e -Trailer. I will put tires on the wheels and get my 1954 3/4 ton 3600 Chevrolet back on the road. I am replacing my original Split Rims Wheels with Tubes/ Tires. These Wheels fit with no modifications.

by:

Paint holds up well, so far working fin e!

by:

Quick delivery and exactly what I ordered. Thank you.

by:

Arrived today fits good will be ordering 2 more

by:

I have purchased 4 or these wheels and 4 hub covers to be used on a 1955 1st series 3/4 ton Chevrolet truck and I am extremely happy with these wheels! They clear the tie rods enough, but probably won’t be able to put balance weights on the inside. Some installers put balance weights on the inside, so I will let them know not to. Again, I’m very happy with these wheels and the service. They came quickly and in good condition and Allison K was very pleasant and helpfull. Great company to do business with!

by:

As the 3rd owner of my 1948 Chevrolet 3600, it's been important to find high quality rims to replace the original split rims. The Etrailer rims have the original rear profile and offset as the original rims. I knew the original owners of this truck so it is incumbent upon me to do the very best job I can with this restoration. The high quality of the Etrailer rims nearly rivals the originals made by GM so many years ago. I'm proud to have bought them.

by:

I received these wheels 6-5 went to tire shop to check fit on 6-7! they are great! put new tires on them and they are just what my 1978 f-250 needed! Thank You! when it is time for new tires on rear i will replace the wheels at that time with this product!

by:

We have now purchased 4 of theese wheels for our 32' 3 axle hotshot trailer and have nothing but good to say about them. We originally purchased 2 to replace the slotted wheels that can't hold up to the weight. Obviously purchasing 2 more says something about them.

Your prompt service is a blessing and we will continue to do business with you.

Worked great on my 49 Chevy Pickup 3600. Had no issues thus far with it, looks good.

The trailer wheels like # AM20766 and wheel/tire products like # TA26FR that we carry do not include lug nuts but we do offer these separately. Grease caps are also available. I linked for you our main pages for trailer tires/wheels, for lug nuts and for center caps. • What is the Wheel Offset for Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel, # AM20750
The Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel, # AM20750, that you have referenced has a zero offset. We also carry 2 other wheels that are 16 x 6 inches with an 8 on 6-1/2 bolt patter. First is the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel, Galvanized, # AM20781. This wheel also has a zero offset. Next, we have the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel, # AM20766. This wheel has a positive 5 millimeter offset (mounting surface of wheel sits outside of rim centerline).

  • Does the Vesper Steel Modular Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" - 8 on 6-1/2 Have Offset
The Vesper Steel Modular Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6" - 8 on 6-1/2 part # TA77RR has a 0 offset. This is the case for the vast majority of trailer wheels but we do have some options in this size with offset which I have attached below. Dexstar Steel Mod Trailer Wheel part # AM20797 (0.5+ Offset) Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel part # AM20766 (0.5+ Offset) Please note, positive offset will bring the wheel closer to the trailer.

  • How To Measure A Offset On A 2005 Exiss 4 Horse Trailer
When measuring the offset of a tire you need to measure from where the wheel mounts to the hub to the inside bead and outside bead, with the difference being the offset. The Vesper Steel Modular Trailer Wheel - 16 inch x 6 inch Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 - White # MX27FR has no offset. The Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel w/ +0.5" Offset - 16 inch x 6 inch Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 - Black # AM20766 has a +0.5 offset. I attached a review video link below.

  • How to Determine if Wheel Will Fit on Trailer
I'm happy to help you figure out if the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel w/ +0.5" Offset - 16" x 6" Rim - 8 on 6-1/2 - Black # AM20766 will fit on your trailer. In order to determine if it fits you simply need to know your trailer hub's bolt pattern. Since this wheel has an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern, if you measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of its opposite bolt and get 6-1/2" then this wheel will fit your trailer! • Hub Cap Size for Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel # AM20766
You can measure the diameter of the wheel and the diameter of the baby moon mounting ridge on the wheel if you care to (see photo), but because the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel you have is a standard automotive size, you can simply purchase either full coverage or baby moon style hub caps for that particular wheel size, which is 16 inches in your case. A full coverage or baby moon hub cap designed to fit a 16 inch wheel will work just fine for you.

  • Recommended Black 16 x 6 Rim for 5th Wheel
I'd recommend the Dexstar # AM20761B. The wheel is 16 x 6, has an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern and a zero offset. The wheel doesn't carry a pressure rating, per se but it can handle the pressure of any tire that will fit on it, according to the fine folks at Dexstar. The valve stem isn't included with the wheel. I'd recommend the # AM20906 metal valve stem that can handle 110 or 120 psi with no problem whatsoever.

  • Backspacing for the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel # AM20766 with +0.5" Offset
For 6" wide wheels that have a zero offset the backspacing is about 3-1/2". Since the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel # AM20766 that you referenced has a +0.5" offset that means that the backspacing will be about 4".

  • 1947-1953 Chevrolet Advance Design Pickup 3600 8 Lug Wheel
I believe the wheel that they are refering to is the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel # AM20766. This has the same 8 on 6-1/2" lug pattern that the 1953 Chevrolet Advance Design Trucks had. This wheel is only 16" in diameter where the originals were either 17" or 18". So I'm not exactly 100% sure if this is the correct fitment for your application but it is the largest black Dexstar wheel we currently have.

In regards to a trailer axle with 95" hub face like the Trailer Axle Beam part # e95GR, you'll likely need to use offset wheels and narrow tire to stay under the 102" max trailer width. The best we could get is 103.3" using the the Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel part # AM20766 and Westlake ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire part # LHWL401. I attached an FAQ article on determining bolt pattern for you to check out. Most likely the tires on your trailer are a size that will work on this rim, but check the FAQ article I attached on trailer tire...

I wish we had conventional trailer wheels in different colors but we only have them in black # AM20766 as you referenced. The Dexstar Conventional Steel Wheel part # AM20766 is lug piloted which means the wheel is centered and supported via the lug nuts/studs. If you are looking for a wheel that is centered and support via the pilot hole then that would be referred to as hub piloted. The trailer hub will dictate whether you need lug or hub piloted wheels but they are not cross-compatible. That said, lug piloted is the most common and likely what you have now.
