My only issue with the product is that the manufacturer has failed to disclose what diameter pipe is required that the handle and ends weld to, if that information were there, it's a 5 star product. To anyone that reads this, 3/4" Black gas pipe required

This lock set is still working very well, originally I think it was designed to be able to lock both top and bottom of the doors, I redesigned my doors so that they lock on the bottom only and the top helps keep the sides from getting sprung from pressure on the sides pushing out, all parts still work like the day they were installed and the lock is tight enough the doors dont rattle while towing

by:

I purchased two of the Universal Cam-Door Lock for Enclosed Trailers - 38320. I used them to close barn doors that are 80" by 80" each. The cam -Door Lock works great for these doors. All the parts are very heavy duty. The Cam-Door Locks closes the doors very firmly against the frame from top to bottom, keeping the doors even and level. I have also used this kit to close doors on a wood drying kiln where the doors have to tightly seal. Again, they work great to apply the needed amount of closing pressure to engage the weather seals. This kit is a good buy where you need to close doors with firm pressure.

The Cam Door Lock works great. I am still very pleased with the product. I have recommended it to a number of people.

by:

Great product! Purchased this to make custom rear doors for a Food Truck, and this works exactly as described and like we need it to. This product requires a separate bar, for which we used stainless steel conduit, as well as welding experience to put it all together. I had to have help with the welding and the overall assembly, which I why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 - not something the general jack-of-most-trades can use, but overall I'm very satisfied with this product, and would definitely recommend it if you have the skills or have access to the skills needed to put it on!

by:

This product was great in the creation of our Honey Warmer. The CAM LOCK has created a locking door system on our insulated doors that will keep a tight seal to hold in the heat we need to warm our honey for processing.

by:

Patrick,

We have used the Cam-Lock
for three generations of our Rapid Deployment Units (RDU Trailers). These RDUs are shipped all over the world and as often as not are deployed into challenging environments. The Cam-Lock system proved to be a rugged and reliable way to protect and secure the hatches over the battery compartments.

As a class project our students were designing and building a canoe hauling trailer for a local outreach camp. This kit worked great and looks great too.

by:

Came quickly and was exactly as listed. No complaints

by:

The hinges and locking mechanism is being used on a home built camp trailer for double doors on the back covering the kitchen. It looks like they will work nicely for the job. Thanks. Couldn’t be happier.

Strap hinges and closer mechanism are working perfectly on the 10’ home built camp trailer. I couldn’t be happier. I show all my friends and sing your praises

by:

The material is very good and delivery time is good too!

by:

I bought a used Pace trailer with a broken lock latch. Could not find anyone in Northern Michigan to fix it. Went on line at Pace, received the part in a few days. Very pleased. A lot more parts in the package than I needed but the price was still great.

by:

This works great. I bought a 14 foot enclosed trailer, with a side swing door. I turned it into a drop door, but I needed hardware for the locking system. Then I found the latch system on etrailer.com. Easy to install, and the video tells you everything you need to know as well. Took me literally 10 minutes to put everything on. Great, great, great!!!

by:

The trailer door hinge lock works great. The only complaint I had was the ends don't fit the pipe very snug so i drilled and tapped some holes and added set screws.

by:

I think the cam lock assemblies are jut the ticket. They are just what I needed for the trailer/toy hauler I built. I do wonder why the great big box for two little boxes? LOL

I will definately think of ya'll when I need parts in the future. I do have one question. Do you carry add-on electric barkes that would fit on a common car hauling flatbed 16' trailer?

by:

Hard to believe its been a year since I bought these. I still have not used them to made the door closers. It will happen this spring for sure. As for the kit itself, it was complete and I think the material strong enough to do the job.

by:

Great product. After someone cut the entire latch off of my trailer these parts put it back the way it was!!!

by:

Everything is well constructed however i will not be able to use them as the add did not have enough info and they will not fit the trailer i have. I ordered 3 sets and the add states will work on any enclosed trailer however they will not fit in place of the old ones as the bolt holes do not line up. I was only replacing as mine were rusted and i do not want to drill holes in a trailer that is only 3 years old just because the old ones are rusted.

by:

A great product. Installed it on a side door of a Wells Cargo trailer to provide some security while the trailer is out of the lot. I would definitely buy this product again. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures and the trailer is on the road already.

by:

great kit to replace your worn out latch. obviously it doesnt come with the cross bar and this is NOT something you can just snap together in your driveway, well thats unless your home garage is a mini shop!
simple to install works great, would recommend to a friend for sure.

Thanks Etrailer!

by:

It works great... provides for a tight and secure (big rig) type of fastener for my camping/utility trailer.

by:

Great product. We build dump boxes for exsisting truck frames and these cam locks are perfect for our application. Quick ordering and they are delivered on time.

by:

Thank you for reaching out. We are very happy with the hardware and may be ordering more for another project soon actually.

by:

This Product saved us quite a bit of problems and would recommend it to anyone.
Service was outstanding and was shipped in a timely manner even to Canada.

by:

This is a reasonably priced kit. It has everything needed. Also a snap to install. I know where I will be purchasing my trailer parts from now on. They even got it to me a day earlier than expected.

  • What Type of Hardware Needed When Installing Universal Cam-Door Lock for Enclosed Trailers # 383200
The hardware you'd want when installing the Universal Cam-Door Lock for Enclosed Trailers, item # 383200 really depends on the application. I'd recommend carriage bolts through the outside of the trailer to the inside and then tightening on the inside with the correct size nuts. When picking out the bolts and nuts you'll just need to factor in the door/ramp thickness and go with what makes the most sense. You'll also need to get a 3/4 inch inside diameter pipe in the length you need to...

  • Is Installing the Cam-Action Lockable Door Latch Kit Easy
Installation of the Cam-Action Lockable Door Latch Kit w/ Narrow Hasp for Small Enclosed Trailers # 383200 is generally regarded as pretty easy, but unfortunately the manufacturer makes no instructions available for this kit for some reason. However, all you need is a pipe with a 3/4" inside diameter and the handle and cam ends will need to be welded to the pipe; the rest of the application gets bolted on.

  • Recommended Handle Latch Kit for Barn Door on Dump Trailer
For the barn door on your dump trailer, I recommend looking at the Cam-Action Lockable Door Latch Kit # 383200. This is a nice steel cam-action door latch with a 1 inch wide hasp that can be installed flush on doors with a 3/4 inch offset. It features a bridge-type hasp that will help to prevent accidental opening and secures a safe latching action. This will use a 3/4 inch diameter pipe that you can source from a local hardware store. This will be a simple bolt-on installation. I have...

  • Does a Pipe Get Welded to the Cam Ends of the Universal Cam-Door Lock, # 383200
First, the Universal Cam-Door Lock, # 383200, does not come with the pipe. You will need to provide a 3/4 inch diameter pipe. I would use regular steel because it is easier to weld then galvanized materials. The handle gets welded to the pipe but none of the other parts. I have linked a video review for you. If you want something similar that includes the pipe you can use # 305736.

  • Possible Solution to Fix Sagging Trailer Doors

  • Replacement Ramp Door Handle for a Horton Enclosed Trailer

  • Availability Of A 55 Inch Cam Lock Kit For An Enclosed Trailer Ramp Door

  • Door Lock Recommendation for a Ramp Style Trailer Door
If you have a ramp style door that swings down and becomes a ramp what I recommend you do is purchase 2 separate 36 inch Lock Side-Door Bar Lock Assemblies, part # 305736, and mount one on either side of your door. This way you will get a handle and hinge on either side of the door like you want.

  • Can the Length of the Pipe be Adjusted on 55 Inch Lock Side-Door Bar Lock Assembly
The pre-assembled cam door lock # 3057-55 is already all put together and can't easily be modified and you may end up having to weld anyway. So I would just go with the universal one, # 383200, and having someone weld it all up for you for a nominal fee. There is likely a machine shop or muffler shop that can do that for you. The other option is to go shorter, # 305736, which is a 36 inch bar.
