Adam: Hi everyone. Adam with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima JetStream Roof Rack System on our 2019 Kia Sorento. This is going to come in handy whenever you're on those trips. You have a lot of people in your car, and they have a lot of cargo. You could put all that up here on our roof rack. We have a lot of different accessories here at etrailer.com.
This does have a T-track, so any T-track accessory is going to work with these bars. It's always nice going on a trip where everybody's got enough room to lay out and just enjoy the ride. Whether it's a roof cargo basket, a cargo carrier. We have a couple of bikes up there, maybe even a couple fishing poles. Whatever it may be, these bars are going to be able to store all that for you, leaving all of this space on the inside of your car. These JetStream bars are going to have a aerodynamic look to them as well it's going to help with that wind noise.
A lot of those round and square bars do have a decent amount of drag going down the road. But how these are designed, it's kind of like a airplane so it's going to go through the air a lot better. We do have a little cover that goes over these bars that's going to cut down on those wind noises even more. So check out etrailer.com for that. On top of that, it is going to have 165 pound weight capacity.
It is made of a very lightweight aluminum with a nice powder coated finish, so it's going to resist against rust and corrosion and last quite a long time.We do have two different colors available. We have the black right here. We also have a silver color option on etrailer.com. So, whatever's going to go best with your car, go on etrailer.com and pick whatever fits you best. We are going to have a little bit of added height to our Sorento.
In this case, from our roof to the bottom of the bars is about 3-1/2" and to the top about 4-1/4". It's always nice to know how much you add to the top of your vehicle just for those low clearance situations like a parking garage or whatever it may be. So let's just go ahead and install them right now.The first thing we're going to want to do to get these feet installed is to screw on our T-track. The way we got to do that is we have a little tab here. We're going to pull that out. Take our tool, and this screw on the inside there is going to be what holds this T-track in place. So you want to get it somewhat threaded on but not too much because we still have to fit it into our T-track. Once that's done, make sure that this is facing out and slide her into place. We do need to set the right distance. There is a measuring tape here. So we do have our feet at a set point that we found in our instructions. And once we get it lined up properly, we can take that same exact screw that we used to install our T-track and tighten that down, and with your tool, it will give you a click when it's torqued down properly. The next thing we want to do is fold open this little gray flap here, and as you can see in there, these teeth are going to slide into this. So as we fold that in, it's going to hook on to that up top, and then we can go ahead and tighten that down a little bit. And once we get it little tight, we can go ahead and click this back into place. So we want to take a rubber boot, that arrow needs to be facing out. Just snap that on and then we can close this and replace our cap.So we are going to want to install our front bar first. We are going to have a measurement in our instructions to measure from the top edge of our glass to see where we're going to put this first bar. Be sure to make sure everything is nice and tight and fits properly, and then you go ahead and tighten it down and then continue with the back bar. With our second bar, we are going to look in our instructions to find the distance between our front bar to the back bar so we can set those evenly. We do have them set in place properly, so we can go ahead and replace our caps. It's pretty easy, just got to fit them in like so, snap it into place. We don't have any locking cores on these right now, but they are available here at etrailer.com.Well, thanks for tuning in and taking a look at our Yakima JetStream Roof Rack System on our 2019 Kia Sorento.

Full-length aluminum bars maximize carrying capacity.Placed the order for the rack a year ago. I didn’t like the way it sat on the roof of my vehicle, but because I had already installed it, etrailer customer service refused to take it back. I would’ve gladly paid for the return shipping or some sort of restocking fee, but that wasn’t an option. I’ve had brand new rack and hardware sitting in their original boxes for a year.
You guys provide great products and excellent customer service.
Thanks
Great secure product though some written instructions on their setup and installation would be helpful.
The 50” jetstream cross bars were perfect for my 2019 Ford Ranger with my ARE cap. They are paired with the Yakima Skyline towers and appropriate landing pads (protip: call etrailer when you order to ensure you have the correct setup;)
These cross bars are SILENT on my cap. Zero wind noise. My daughter and I installed them on a Friday (I do recommend watching etrailer’s installation video in addition to the paper instructions) and left for a 700 mile weekend road trip the next day to pick up a kayak, paddle with friends downstate then drop her off at summer camp.
Even with empty Yakima Jaylows on top, no wind noise. Even with a boat in the Jaylows, no wind noise.
These are the sweetest rack’s I’ve had. With the Skyline towers and landing pads, they are also easy to take off and put on. Click click done.
They look good, too;)
etrailer customer service for the win, too. When I originally ordered, I did not order all the items I needed for installation. When I realized this, I called and they got me squared away.
Yakima Baseline with Yakima CBX 18 Cargo Box fitted on my 2012 Toyota Corolla S Sedan 2012.
Instructions were clear and roof rack was easily installed.
Of all of the many racks I’ve purchased over the years, this, by far, is the worst. Once installed, it is okay, but installing these towers is extremely frustrating. The front and back “clips” fall out requiring multiple attempts. When I contacted Yakima customer support, they acknowledged that they have received complaints about the product. Their solution was to just leave the racks on the car. I asked to be notified when a better product was available but a year later I’ve received no response. If this is the only option available for your vehicle (as it was for mine), then prepare to be frustrated. Otherwise, purchase a different product.
Great product - very good quality. I liked the fact that I could keep the risers mounted on my car, but could remove the cross bars. It took me awhile to install - but I'm not very mechanically inclined.
I bought both the roof rack and the cage from etrailer! Put everything on myself...easy peasy!
1 year later and still love my Yakima JetStream system. I've mostly used them to transport my kayak however I've also been able to transport some big box store items as well. They are very versatile. There is a t-track option as well as wrap around attachments. I've use ladder attachments, eyebolts, and Thule Hullavator in t-track. I've used Malone MegaWing and Yakima Skybox as wrap around attachment. What I really like about the t-track system is that you do not need to cut out the rubber track insert. You simply slide over the rubber, which allows you to adjust your system, on the fly, to load what you need to carry.
etrailer installation videos were very helpful in selecting the product and first installation, although in practice, minor adjustments to method were required. Now after more than a dozen set ups, mounting the crossbars takes 15 minutes, and taking them off, 10. The system is well made, and when mounted, precise, strong, and reliable. Expensive perhaps compared to alternatives, but well worth the money. Used to carry a 50# sailboard 40 miles to the beach on weekends. ('11 Honda Fit)
One minor shortcoming: rubber sheet glued to base clips where they touch the car body have torn and moved sideways 1/16", but expect will be easily replaced with readily available 1/16" sheet rubber (e.g., shower pan liner) when the time comes.
Used in rain at least once, (sustained 60mph), with no leaks.
I needed crossbars for my new 2018 Mazda CX5, which came with flush side rails. The Yakima crossbars, along with the RidgeLine Towers and the the vehicle specific kit worked great. The installation (10-15 min) is super easy. They look cool, and performed great (I strapped 160-lbs rooftop tent on them!). Removing them is also super easy (10 min tops). Highly recommend.

It's a great roof rack, but the paint is getting all scratched off...probably from sliding kayaks up onto it. I hope it doesn't rust. So far no signs of that.
I loved how easy these towers were to install. Took less than 30 mins total. They look nice and feel very sturdy. I am looking forward to loading the Kayaks up and getting out on the water next weekend.
Because of the 'rona-induced supply chain interruptions, I was unable to purchase all of my Yakima components from etrailer, but I did get these, and they are typically excellent Yakima components. Well-made, easy to install, good directions, no problems.
I chose the Yakima roof rack, because It spanned 50 inches, rather than the leading competitor's 47 inches, making it better for tying down 4 ft x 8 ft sheets of building material. It also seemed to be about half the price. It took me about 2 hours to put it all together and mount it on my car. The instructions were all visual and there was one little pic I didn't understand, but the equipment seemed to go together correctly anyway. Now that it's adjusted, it should be fairly easy to remove and replace next time. I did need to put on super tacky gloves to get the covers off. Although it seemed unnecessarily complicated, I would still choose this product again.
Easy installation. Great follow-up and service by etrailer post-delivery
The crossbars are light and very strong. They fit perfectly and installed easily.
Good condition quality. Good and detailed instructions but aittle tedious install.
With exception of getting wrong towers (crossbar vs streamline), installation was fairly painless. Pay attention to measurements during install! Looking forward to the Yakima 16 to be fitted shortly and then ROAD-TRIPPING.
Everything arrived in a timely fashion and the instructions were simple to follow. The fit is good and look forward to many years of use. Kayaks are awaiting for racks to arrive. Thanks for a great product
The racks fit well and secure on 2021 Palisade. A little cumbersome to assemble but a little patients goes a long way. Also 4 pieces were robbed from one box.
The people at etrailer made it right by sending the lost part ASAP.
Thank you
Received this Yakima roof rack system for my flush-rail 2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature on Thursday, and installed it on Friday.
It’s not the simplest installation I’ve encountered, and I’d had a number of Thule products before. I found the installation “picto-grams” not that helpful. Also the 3.5 newton-meter torque screwdriver provide would not “click”.
It looks great on the Mazda, but took about 4 hours to install - getting the clips in place was an issue ; I got the outer to clip on, only to find the inner had come off its attachment clips- very frustrating.
I’m using these towers in conjunction with the JetStream cross bars. Assembly and setup was easy, all the tools you need are provided, except perhaps a tape measure for mounting. Looks and feels solid and well made. This is my second set of Yakima towers and cross bars. I plan to use this setup for an old roof top hard shell case and for my mountain bike to get to the trail head.
After completing the installation I took it out for a spin to check for wind noise at highway speeds. No discernible noise, I’m very happy about that as I really don’t want to remove these when not needed. For reference these are mounted on a 2019 Subaru Forester Touring with factory raised rails. Plenty of clearance for attaching equipment and gear.
Side note: the gentleman that assisted me on the phone while ordering was very pleasant and helpful, got me the right products very quickly as I was in a time crunch. Two thumbs up!
Arrived quickly; easy instal!
