Colin: Hey everyone. It's Colin here at etrailer. Today, we have a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek and we've been testing some roof racks on it. And right now, we have the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack system installed. And this is a roof rack that has been designed to mount to your raised side rails of your Crosstrek. And this is going to allow you to get your favorite rooftop accessories loaded up, whether you want to carry a bike up there, maybe have a kayak or even a cargo box that you can load up with some luggage and some other cargo and conserve on space on the inside of your Crosstrek. Now, with this roof rack system, up top we're going to have our 47" long WingBar Evo crossbars. These are going to be what you mount all your accessories to.
You can see that we have them in black right now, but if you think that silver would match your Crosstrek better, you can go ahead and get that kit. It's also sold here at etrailer, whatever matches your Subaru best.We have a nice aerodynamic shape to both of them. That's going to just going to help cut down on that wind noise and drag, especially when you compare it to a standard square or round bar roof rack system. We also have a T-slot up top that we can use just revolving that cap, and we can insert our T-slot accessories between the two strips to our desired location on the crossbar, tighten it down, and then we'll be good to go.Now down here, we're going to have our Evo raised rail feet. This is kind of the middleman between the raised side rails and our crossbars. It's clamping down onto our side rails, giving a nice hold. You can see that the vehicle is moving a lot.
This thing's not budging at all. Got nice rubber coating around the entire clamping system. It helps to make sure it doesn't harm or scratch the finish of your side rails.Go ahead and take that end cap off so you can kind of see what's on the inside. That's the bolt right there. We just tighten it down with our included tool.
That's really all there is to it. You just tighten it down. It's all good to go.That's what's something that's nice about this roof rack system and it's that it's a lot easier to install than a standard padding clamp system for a naked roof, and it's easily removable too.We also got some pop locks right here. We can replace those with the one key system from Thule. That'll just provide more security for our roof rack. Now, we're also going to have a 220 pound weight capacity for this setup.
That's a lot more than a lot of other Aero systems out there. So you should be able to get this thing loaded up, but do be sure you double check with your Crosstrek's owner's manual and make sure your roof can handle that weight.Well, now that we've gone over some of those features, we'll go ahead and show you guys how to get this installed. Now, it's always pretty easy. All we have to do is get our Evo raised rail feet installed into the channels right here of our wing bar.So we'll just pop end cap off and then slide this into that bottom track just like that. Put the end cap back on. That's all it takes. So we're ready to go ahead and get it on our roof. Now, we're going to measure our crossbar spread to make sure we get our bars parallel as they can to each other. Now, real quick, I'll point out how I got the front one installed. All I did was I picked a spot on the side rail to measure from.So I just picked that little crease right there, measured to the edge of my raised rail foot on both sides. Then I tightened it down. Now with the crossbar spread, there's really no set measurement. You just want to make sure it's at least 27 and a half inches.Usually, I base it off of whatever accessory you might be using that day. So we're going to measure from the front bar to front bar of each, 28 inches. We'll just stick with that. So I'll go over on the other side and make sure that it's 28 inches. Now, we can begin tightening down our raised rail feet. What I'd like to do first is kind of pull down on it and push it up against my rail's arrow, just to get as flush as possible. And I'll just tighten that up with my finger, as far as I can, just goes a little quicker than using the tool. And I'll grab my included tool and tighten it down. I've already done this for the other side. So we just have to finish up this side and we'll be good to go.Now, the tool is going to let you know when it's fully torqued, you can hear those clicks right there, letting you know that it's fully torqued. So we'll just grab our end cap and put it on.And then when you're done installing, it's always a good idea to go ahead and grab a hold of both of your crossbars and give it a good shake. Just go back and forth, up and down. You can see that the entire vehicle is moving. This thing's not going anywhere. Now, we're ready to load up our favorite Thule rooftop accessories, and then hit the road. Well, thank you all for watching. That'll do it for our test fit of the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack system on our 2015 Subaru Crosstrek.

Premium, aerodynamic crossbars attach to Thule feet to create a quiet, stylish roof rack for your vehicle. Dual rubber strips in T-slots let you easily mount accessories - no trimming required. Simple to center and install with integrated scales.I've had the roof rack for a year now and we only use it sporadically in the winter to put the ski box ontop of the car but it works great. Very easy to install and remove and very sturdy. Previously I had the kind that bolted into the roof of my SUV and had a terrible experience with that (we lost the rack and kayaks on the freeway and it tore holes in my roof). The clamp style is the only kind we'll get from now on because they are much sturdier and no risk of losing them. Definitely recommend them.
I just got my packages and had it installed within the hour very satisfied
No problems installing. The rack is doing fine.
Product was right fit for my vehicle and installed perfectly. Etrailer was knowledgeable and got the goods to me quickly. Enjoyed working with them and will again.
Easy to install, fit and finish are top notch.
I've owned this roof rack for a year now, and it has served my purposes (carrying my kayak around on my truck) quite well. It was fairly easy to assemble, largely because the entire instruction guide was in pictures.
I have had to retighten the rack a couple of times since putting it on the roof, so I tie the kayak down to the front and back of the truck as well as to the roof rack. I suspect the ocean kayak puts a bit of lift on the roof rack resulting in the loosening.
Worked perfectly on my 2020 GMC Sierra. Looks and works great.
I have almost always had roof rails on my vehicles. My F150 had no rails and I was nervous about clamp style rack holders given what I tend to carry on top. These have been great and I am positive I have overloaded them numerous times.
We just purchased a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe as our retirement vehicle for traveling. We wanted to install cargo accessories but the dealer prices were WAY to high. After researching for several days we found etrailer.com. The prices were the best we found and the service was outstanding! We installed a Thule roof rack system that fits flawlessly and allows the panorama sun roof to plenty of roof to operate. The videos made in really easy to install. We also installed a trailer hitch system. The Tekonsha Trailer Wiring kit was also a piece of cake to install. If you're hesitant to work on electrical systems, there's no need to be afraid. It's actually easier than it looks in the video.
The Curt Trailer Hitch gave me major headaches. The delivery company banged the box up pretty badly. Apparently it tweaked the hitch just enough so that the holes were misaligned. No problem, after talking me through the installation one more time to be sure it was damaged, they shipped a new unit. The second hitch went in fine. It took a while, and it's not as easy as it looks in the video, but I'm 67 years old I did the installation myself...
Overall, I gave five stars because the price match guaranty makes it a wise choice price wise. he videos are a big help during installation. But the real difference is the service. A lot of folks provide good service to make a sale, but etrailer goes the extra distance to provide great service afterwards. That's unique! Thanks etrailer!
Bought the Thule Wingbar Evo 118 crossbars and Thule Evo Raised Rail footers and installed them on my 2016 RAV4. Pretty easy to install and I did watch a few videos online to make sure I was doing everything right. I like the new raised rail system from Thule as it is clamp style versus the rubber strap - both work very well, but the newer clamp system is nice because the tool you use to tighten the footings clicks when it reaches the right tightness so you don't over tighten it. I recommend these rails and the footings (Thule 710401) as the system is quiet when driving and looks good.
Great quality products! Easy installation with properly guided instructions. One of the best tracking information, from ordering to delivery. Would strongly recommend etrailer to anyone looking for roof or hitch bike racks.
Seamless ordering and delivery. Video instructions very helpful
Worked Perfect & Secured a very heavy load in extreme weather & off road conditions
Easy to install with the anchors and crossbars, and still holding up great a year later.
Excellent system
One of the Evo Clamps is missing the plastic plate where the rubber spacer attaches. Please send a new plate or new clamp so I can finish my install. See attached photos to see the difference.
Great product from Thule. Fit my 2022 Ford Ranger perfectly and is very strong and secure when installed. Excellent customer service from trailer and extremely fast shipping.
I bought the Thule Evo Roof Rack to transport my kayak on my Lexus 300H. Thule will advise you on their website that his particular rack is not right for a Lexus 300H (i.e., they don't make a roof rack for a Lexus 300H); it is really for a Camry, but etrailer told me that is worked, I trusted them and they were correct. After all, a Lexus sedan is really a fancy Camry, but Thule will not acknowledge this point. It works great. Thule makes a solid product.
Superb quality. Of course, it is from Thule and they are expensive for sure. But, you really get what you pay for!
And, just consider how expensive it would be if using something more affordable (cheap generic brand) and the racks/bars take off from the roof with the box on the highway!
These will not take off, super sturdy and fits the car perfectly.
Just be sure to get the right kit.
And follow the paper instructions coming along the parts.
Can recommend these, were for Nissan Leaf 2021.
And not to forget the etrailer company, they did their part as well with flying colors. All parts arrived in time and were correct!
Solid foot for Thule roof rack. Used these for square bar but applicable for aero bar options as well.
Installed on a pickup truck. Hauls canoe very well. We love our rack. Easy to mount and very strong. No issues in thousands of miles of hauling. Great rack.
Sturdy and working as expected.
Customer Service at etrailer is par none, both before the sale and after. I had an unpleasant experience elsewhere buying and installing a roof rack for my old Prius. After a few days of frustrations, I sent it back to that old online store.
This time, I contacted etrailer to see what ALL I needed to install a rack on my new 2018 Honda CRV. They sent me the part numbers and a link to purchase. Viola! After they arrived, I had difficulty with one of the parts (at 69 yo my hands are not too strong or flexible) and contacted etrailer. They sent pictures and more thorough instructions on installing the rubber strip. Another VIOLA!
I'm so very happy with my total experience at etrailer. Customer Service, truly, is not better any where else I have made online or brick-n-mortar purchases.
The Thule Eco clamps and roof rack performed excellently. We traveled over 12,000 miles last summer out west and it carried a inflatable canoe and other gear and was flawless. Securing straps adequately reduces wind noise significantly. There was no motion or shifting during the entire trip. Total poundage secured during our adventures was approximately 100 lbs.
