Colin: Hey, guys. It's Colin here at etrailer. Today we have a 2018 Ford Edge. Right now we're going to be test fitting the Thule Wingbar Evo roof rack system. This is a system that has been designed to mount to the flush-mounted side rails of your Edge, and it's going to allow you to get any of your favorite rooftop accessories loaded up top so you can conserve on space on the inside of your vehicle, anything from bike racks, to cargo boxes, maybe even a kayak carrier. You're going to be able to get those loaded up and secured on this roof rack setup. Now up top, we have our 47" long wingbar evo crossbars.
You have a nice aerodynamic shape to them, and it's going to help cut down on wind noise and drag, especially when compared to a standard square or round bar roof rack system. You can see we have them in black right now, but they're also available in silver. If you think that option would match your Edge better, just check out our website. We have fits for both. What's nice is that it's very easy to access our T slot. We don't have to take the end cap completely off.
What's also really nice is that Thule eliminated the need to have to pull the rubber strip out and cut it to length, like their older crossbars were. Instead, all we have to do is slide our accessory between the two strips to our desired spot on our roof rack, tighten it down, and then we're going to be good to go.Now right here, we have our Thule podium foot pack. This is going to be what's connecting our crossbars to our flush-mounted side rails. We have a little plastic lock right here. These can be replaced with the one key system from Thule, that will just provide more security for your roof rack.
Right now, it is pretty secure. Just keep the end cap on there. It prevents someone from just coming up and being able to pull it off right away. If you just take a coin or a flat headed tool, such as this plastic trim removal tool, we can just unlock that and pull the end cap off. You can see right here this rubber coated bracket, along with the pad right here, is not part of the podium foot pack.
This is going to be this part back here, but this is the fit kit that has been specifically designed for the flush-mounted side rails of the Edge. This gives that really nice clean look, and it's also going to provide a lot of security. We have our hook underneath that lip of our Edge, and then the clamp system up here as it tightens down also tightens down on the backside. All this is going to be rubber coated, or made out of rubber. You're not going to have to worry about it scratching or damaging your flush-mounted side rails. Then when you're all done, you always want to make sure you lock that up, because if you don't, any type of gust of wind could just knock it right off, so let's lock that back up.Now, I want to go over a few measurements for you guys. First, on the top of our roof, the bottom of our wingbar is going to be 3 3/4 of an inch. It should be more than enough space to get your clamp on accessories underneath your crossbar without risking damaging the top of your roof. If we go from the top of our roof to the top of our wingbar, it's going to be 4 3/4 of an inch. You just want to keep that in mind that you have that added height to the top of your roof for any low clearance situations. While it's going to have a 220 pound weight capacity for our wingbar setup, it's going to be plenty to be able to get our accessories loaded up, but you always want to double-check with your Edge's owner's manual. Make sure your rooftop can handle that weight. Now that we've gone over some of those features, let's show you guys how to get this installed. I'll go ahead and show you how to get it assembled and installed. It's going to be a pretty easy process. Both bars are going to be the same process. We have the front one installed already. In a little bit, I'll show you how I got that in its place.Just take the end cap off. Now we're just going to grab our fit kit and our podium foot pack, and put those together. Because we have the one bolt right here, we need to make sure we have our podium foot back set to the correct way. You can see there's two openings right here on either end of this little metal rod. What we need to do is spin that, and how we're going to do that is just pull out on this. Now you see I can adjust the little bar here. We'll just turn it 90 degrees to where you can see this hole right here on the inside, and we'll push it back in to lock it. Then we'll flip this around from the front side. We're going to get this screw loosely installed, and thread it on there. Now that we have it loosely installed, we're going to take these top two points right here, and feed them into the bottom track of our wingbars, just like this. Once we get it in there, we'll put our end cap back on, and now we're ready to get it on the roof. Now we'll just raise it over the top of our roof, set it on our flush side rails. From here we're going to measure our crossbar spread. How we got the front one in place was I just measured from the edge of my flush side rail up front to the edge of my podium foot pack, the same on both sides, and then I tightened it down. Now, when it comes to the crossbar spread, there's not really a defined measurement. Per the instructions, you do want to stay around 70 centimeters. You can give or take five to 10 centimeters, depending on the accessory you might be using. You might need to go bigger, you might need to go smaller. We'll just stick with that 70 mark to make it easy. What we're going to do is measure from the front of our front wingbar to the front of our back wingbar. We'll make that 70 on both sides. I've got the front one done. We'll get this done on the other side as well. Now, I'm just going to tighten down that bolt the rest of the way on both sides. No need to over-tighten it. Just get it pretty snug, and then we'll go a few more rotations from there. Again, make sure you get this done on the other side as well. Now from here, we'll just put our end caps on both sides. Again, just get some type of flat tool or even a coin. Go ahead and lock that little plastic piece up. Now from here, it's never a bad idea to go ahead and grab ahold of both of your crossbars. Give your roof rack a good shake. Just make sure everything is secure. You can see our entire vehicle moves as we shake it, so now we're going to be ready to load up our favorite Thule rooftop accessories, and then hit the road.Well, thank you all for watching. That's going to do it for our test fit of the Thule Wingbar Evo roof rack system for our 2018 Ford Edge.

Premium, aerodynamic crossbars attach to Thule feet to create a quiet, stylish roof rack for your vehicle. Dual rubber strips in T-slots let you easily mount accessories - no trimming required. Simple to center and install with integrated scales.Easy to assemble and install. Love the way etrailer packages everything you need and they all are correct for the vehicle you are mounting them on. Once installed they appear very strong. Installed on a 2023 Chevy Tahoe and did not interfere with the sunroof.
Once the mounting kit was installed, the fit was great. Too expensive though. etrailer ordering and shipping process was fantastic.
Easy to install. Super-fast shipping. Quality product. Glad I shopped with etrailer.
Great looking product. Fits very well on the car and the bars are actually pretty quiet. It is somewhat a pain to mount and dismount so plan on 30-45 minutes at least. In my opinion, if you put them on leave them there for the season as it is not very friendly to mount or dismount.
Very sturdy. Works well. The attachment to the roof rails on my 2023 chevy suburban works well. The "C" clamp design mechanism holds it tightly and securely in place. No fear of anything coming loose and falling off like other racks I have tried to use.
Favorite bar Thule makes. Super solid.
Excellent product. Arrived when promised. Very pleased. Thank you.
I ordered the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - Silver - 50" with the Evo Flush Rail Feet for Thule Crossbars - Flush Side Rails and the Fit Kit for Thule Evo Flush Rail and Edge Flush Rail Roof Rack Feet for my 2020 Mazda CX9. I appreciated the product selector to make sure I was getting all the correct parts. I was happy with the products, but I did run into an issue where 1 of the rail feet had a defective bolt which required a replacement. I was very satisfied with etrailer's customer support, and how well they worked with me to get the part replaced quickly. I'm giving this a 4 start only because of the hassle of receiving a defective one initially
Fit my 2015 Kia Sorento perfectly
Quick service and greet product ! I’ve wanted Thule for years and finally treated myself so I can carry my SUP. Can’t wait to load it up with a couple of boards!
Solid roof rack, but get help from etrailer to make sure you get the core feet.
Put them on a Nissan Rogue and they work great. Make sure to install the underside channel plugs which come with the bars or they will whistle.
Website is easy to use & is better at putting together the correct package than Thule’s site.
etrailer had all the parts in stock for my 2020 Kia Telluride.
Payment process was simple.
Received periodic updates from staffer on my order & could actually reply if needed.
Installing the roof rack went well. Estimate start to finish was about 2 hours. Found it best to really examine each diagram in Thule’s step by step instructions to get it all right on the first try.
Hardness part of the installation was getting the crossbars installed at the proper distances. A tailor’s soft measuring tape & some masking were great aids.
It was hard to know what to order. We ordered 2 kits and thought that would hook up to our roof top. But no we needed a 3rd kit. I guess some people only need repair kits. It would be helpful to have one complete kit and then other parts needed for things like a repair job. Was not very had to assemble once we had everything.
Thule Rack looks awesome on my Kia Telluride. Products took a while to get to me because they were on backorder but it's not etrailer, they were on backorder everywhere. I messed up one of the pieces of rubber while installing and etrailer sent me a new one at no charge. Definitely recommend etrailer.
I spent a whole weekend looking for all these parts - no one had the entire kit in stock, they had one but not the other. I stumbled upon etrailer.com and was blown away by how easy they made the shopping experience - entered my vehicles info and they told me exactly what I needed! It doesn’t stop there, they also shipped my items within 3 days of ordering. I will definitely use them again when the time comes and recommend you do the same.
Brittany was awesome ! Very helpful in my decision making & her knowledge was a tremendous help! Speedy delivery and awesome product in Thule ! My roof racks are AWESOME!!!!
I am very pleased with my purchase, great prices, great quality parts, and excellent customer service.
I’ve had it on my 2021 Kia Telluride now for a few months and it works great. When I was mounting the forward bar, I opened the sun roof to make sure I was comfortable with the roof window and bar clearance.
Thule makes great products
And etrailer makes it too easy to get when needed.
Very pleased with order. Shipped fast, not damaged, all parts accounted for. Easy install, very sturdy, and attractive design. Slight wind noise but that was expected compared to not having a roof rack.
Easy to install. It fit great on my 21 Tahoe. I do wish it came with the locks for the price. I do admit though, a thief would really need to want them to take the time to get them off. It is not a snatch and grab type item. All four clamps would need to be loosened. They are very solid though. I did not notice much extra wind noise either on the maiden voyage.
Quick, easy, and solid installation.
Easy set up, great roof rack. One small problem with installing the rubber strips, piece would not lay flush..
I only received on of the 3 orders
