Hello, neighbors and friends. Steven here, with etrailer.com. Today we're talking fresh water systems, specifically the Valterra check valve for your RV fresh water system. So a check valve, if you're not familiar, simply lets water flow in one direction only, and it prevents water from coming back through that connection. So in this case, it's gonna prevent city water, or your connection, from filling and overflowing into your fresh water tank, or rather overflowing your fresh water tank. And it's gonna prevent water from back flowing out of your hot water heater.
So it's a nice brass construction. It's lead free, very safe to use. As you can see, it's got the arrow for the direction of the travel of water flow. You've got a 1/2 inch MPT by 1/2 inch FPT. So 1/2 inch male pipe threads, two 1/2 inch female pipe threads on the inside.
Now the check valve inside there, that is spring loaded. It's hard to see with my finger there, but basically you push that down, water pressure's gonna push that down, open it, and allow the water to flow in to the opposite side. So brass construction. One year warranty by Valterra. This again, folks, is the check valve for your RV fresh water systems.

fresh water system to stop .back flow works great
Used this to "fix" the faulty check valve in a ShurFlo pump. I just installed it inline with the old, bad valve. A cheaper, and better solution, than just replacing the pump.
I'd give it 5 stars, as it was priced right and fixed the problem.
The Check valve is what I expected and the order and delivery were seamless, I have dealt with etrailer before and my previous experience was excellent.
I wish someone would come up with a better design, I have gone through two of these check valves including the original plastic one that came on the Suburban HW heater, the plastic inner parts do not have a long life, If I'm lucky I will get two seasons out of a Valve. For that reason I ordered a spare.
So far it seems to work after using teflon tape. Brass to plastic doesn't seal well. Pump did pickup the water and am testing to be sure of back flow of city water to the fresh tank.
Haven’t installed it yet. It’s winter temperatures now may not install until spring now. So can’t verify operability but it is just what I needed. Fast delivery
