Video Transcript for Review of ASA Electronics RV Air Conditioners - Advent Air White Low Profile System - ASA69YR

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Advent Air White Low-Profile 13,500 BTU RV Air Conditioner system. Now, this low-profile air conditioner unit is gonna let you replace, upgrade, or add a new air conditioner unit to your RV or camper. And this system includes this air distribution box and this stark capacitor. And as you can see, our air distribution box has a thermostat built into it, and the low-profile design of this air conditioner is going to minimize wind resistance.

So this is going to help improve your fuel efficiency and give you a little bit more overhead clearance. Now, this 13,500 BTU per hour air conditioner is going to do a great job of quickly and efficiently cooling the inside of your RV or camper. And this is going to be compatible with ducted or ductless systems. And this is gonna be a bolt-on installation with the included hardware that you can see right there. So this is gonna be great for your motorhomes, your travel trailers, and your fifth wheels.

But I do want to make you aware of the fact that this air conditioner has not been approved for use on school buses, food trucks, enclosed utility trailers, or off-roading vehicles. Now, this air conditioner unit is going to fit roofs from 2 1/2 inches to five inches thick with an opening size of 14 1/4 inches long and 14 1/4 inches wide. And let me give you some overall measurements of this unit just so you have an idea of the size. Looking at the length measuring from front to back, we're sitting at about 31 inches long. The overall height from top to bottom, we're sitting at about 10 1/8 inches tall.

And then the overall width, we're sitting at about 24 and 15/16 inches wide. And the unit itself weighs just a little bit under 70 pounds. Now I'm gonna go ahead and remove the lid here. I went ahead and removed the screws that secure the lid to the air conditioner just so it would save me some time removing the lid for you. I wanna show you the inside and you can see a little bit of what it looks like from that angle, but I wanna give you a better look from overhead.

This air conditioner features a fan blade with a three-speed motor that's going to give you ample airflow at 500 cubic feet per minute. And this air conditioner features a condensation dispersion system that's going to increase cooling efficiency by managing moisture to prevent water runoff. So hopefully, you have a nice view of the inside here from that overhead look. But going back to my wide view, I'm gonna replace this cover, and as I do, I wanted to point out that this cover is a really good piece of plastic. It's a thicker plastic than what I've seen on other RV air conditioner systems from other brands, other companies. So I think this is going to be a very durable cover for you, and it's going to fit tight and snug over the bottom frame of this air conditioner. So I think it's gonna be very durable. I think it's gonna hold up really well for you. This is going to do a great job of protecting those internal components from water and debris. And this is gonna be very easy to remove if you wanted to do some maintenance or do some cleaning. You're just going to remove the screws around the perimeter of the cover with the Phillips head screwdriver. And then when you're ready to replace it, you just pop it back on as you saw me do here and replace those screws and tighten them down, and you will be good to go. I did want to point out here that the frame is constructed of metal, so it's very durable, very strong and rigid. And at the bottom of our frame at the base, we have these foam support pads. They're nice thick foam pads that are going to do a great job of giving you support between the roof of your RV and your air conditioner. And then a gasket seals the opening to prevent water seepage and air leaks. And those foam pads at the base are going to do a great job of reducing noise. Now let me give you a closer view of this corner of the table here. So we can go over the components that's included with this kit. Of course, we have our air distribution box here. It has adjustable registers here at the top and the bottom, or when you have it installed, the front and the back. And this also, so you're gonna be able to easily direct the air where you need it. And then we have a removable air filter here. You're just going to remove this cover and then that's going to allow you to access that filter, wash it out and clean it. That's gonna help prevent dust and dirt buildup on the fan blades. And then we have a built-in thermostat control that is gonna help you, give you the ability to control your temperature and your fan speed. And then the internal aluminum components are gonna be corrosion-proof and rust-proof. And I have this setting up on blocks here, but let me go ahead and just remove the blocks real quick just so I can give you a better overview here. So you see the register there on that side. And then basically this is how it's going to be mounted up in your ceiling. You see the other register there, again, those registers are going to be fully adjustable and this is about 3 1/2 inches thick or so. So from your ceiling it's going to be sticking down or coming down about 3 1/2 inches or so. I'm just turning this around here to give you the view of the portion that's gonna be installed up into your ceiling. And then let me go ahead and set this back up here and give you some measurements here of the air distribution box so you have an idea of the size of it. So looking at the overall length, we're sitting at about 22 1/2 inches long. The overall width about 21 1/2 inches wide. And then this does include this start capacitor. Bring this up here a little bit closer so you can see. And as you probably know, this start capacitor is going to jump-start your air conditioner when the campsite that you're at or the generator that you might be using isn't providing you enough power to start your air conditioner. This capacitor is actually going to store energy that will later be used for the next startup. So this is included along with the hardware to install it. And this will install right inside of the air conditioner unit itself. Now this does not include an electric heat strip, but you can pick one of those up from etrailer as well if you would like that. And so if you decide to pick an electric heat strip separately, again, that'll be installed inside of your air conditioner unit and that will help take the chill out of the air on a cold frosty morning. Now this is UL and CUL certified and we do offer this kit with not only a white cover as we have here, but also a black cover. And we also offer this in a higher BTU rating as well, 15,000 BTU. So you can find those additional options here at etrailer.com. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

So EASY it aughta’ be CHEESY!!! Unboxed AC Unit, noticed two dents in the unit but none of the parts looked damaged or inconsistent; So I decided not to call regarding minor damage, instead I decided to install it by using two ramps I made out of scrap wood. TIP: the wooden ramps made it so simple to install the unit with minimal effort and two people. This made it a breeze to put in and I really recommend using this tip when installing your unit… The New Advent AC Unit made is so simple to plug into the dometic. This unit is made for easy installation and almost a universal fit. Great Experience at this establishment and happy with their product and selection of RV and Trailer parts. I will definitely recommend to all my fellow RV’ers! Happy Shopping! Always remember… Keep your library card updated!??????

I purchased this 15,000 BTU unit with the direction from customer service. I was told that it was a replacement for my original Dometic AC on my 5th wheel and that it would mount and have identical wiring.
They were very helpful and correct. It was extremely easy to replace. The mounting bolts and wiring hook up were identical to my old unit. The hardest part was getting it on the roof of my camper which actually wasn’t that difficult. I put an old piece of carpet (upside down) on the roof to protect it. I used my tractor with a front loader to lift it as high as I could then just set it up on the roof.
Once I removed the diverter/trim from the inside ceiling there are 4 bolts holding the unit in place, one wiring plug and the freeze sensor attached to the evaporator. Once that was all done it just lifted off the roof. After cleaning the roof where the old unit set, I simply set the new unit on the same seal footprint. I went inside hook up the wire plug, located the freeze sensor and tightened the 4 bolts. Don’t tighten the bolts too tight, just enough to hold it tight and adequately compress the foam seal.
The overall size of the new unit is shorter and smaller than the Dometic.

So far so good, I ordered two of these to replace my existing units.
One unit arrived damaged, but is working OK.
They seem a little noiser than the Coleman Machs.
Working good so far.

Changed out dometic 13,500 BtU conditioner with 15,000 BTU with Advent Air. The fit was exactly the same dimensions with the same plug for thermostat and other controls. All I had to reconnect was the 115v electric. When started it took about 30 seconds for fan ramp up to full speed and then compressor kicked in. Two people took two hours. One person had previous experience. Should work well cooling a 30ft fifth wheel camper.

We are very happy with our Etrailer purchase! We replaced our 13.5K BTU Dometic Brisk 2 with a comparable low-profile Advent unit. As we were not totally sure of which unit to purchase, we made a quick call into the call center to confirm compatibility. The call center was very friendly & helpful. We received our A/C unit in a timely manner with only 1 minor dent from the shipping process. This did not appear to compromise the unit's function, so we proceeded with the install. As many customers have noted previously, the hardest part of the installation was getting the unit onto the roof. Installing the provided start capacitor went smoothly and the unit fit our Coachmen Apex's measurements well. The plugs & wiring were compatible making the final change-over very easy. As noted in the unit's description, installation hardware is not included in the purchase but was not necessary, as our existing hardware fit precisely. Our new unit is better-looking & much more aerodynamic and compact. Best of all it is MUCH quieter & seems to cool very efficiently in our humid, Southern heat!! Etrailer saved us hundreds of dollars with this purchase, and we can't be more satisfied. Thank you Etrailer! :)
I included a photo of my husband's method of getting the unit onto the roof for your enjoyment.

Bought this to replace an older (2007) Coleman 8000 on our pop-up. Had a bit of a time installing this. Please, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and LOOK AT THE PICTURES. I had the upper duct that mounts to the roof unit installed 180 degrees off.

The converter kit that you buy with this if you're replacing a Coleman, didn't fit my Coleman panel. It's made for newer units. After talking to etrailer and the manufacturer I found I had to purchase a new control panel for inside. Another $85.

Overall it wasn't a bad job once I figured out the upper duct and the control panel issues. Unit cools well. About the same noise level as the old Coleman. It is not as thick top to bottom as the Coleman was. Think it's a little lighter after picking up both! Real test of how it works will be the trip we're taking next month.

This item did not arrive today. I ordered a package deal with the rv AC and the distribution ent with thermostat. Today I received the distribution vent with the thermostat. Why sell as a complete set with the item doesn’t ship together. On item came from Missouri and the other is coming from Utah. Installation was set for tomorrow but that is not going to happen. Funny thing is while ordering it stated it was in stock and would be arriving today. Just missing my AC unit. Not the best service from etrailer.

by:

I received this awesome air conditioner unit in a week. Was a very easy install with great instructions. Blows very cold. Good unit

by:

I don't know about longevity however I replaced 2 Dometic Brisk 2 systems on a camper I bought that needed a little more than tlc. It is a 2 zone Dometic system and these plugged right up. Only had them in a for a few days but they work great! Very pleased. I am hoping they last. Shipping was FAST and Etrailer kept me up to date on status. They were also very helpful with questions I had to make sure they would work with my system. I think these are actually quieter than the Dometics I replaced. Not hard to install, in fact the hardest part was getting them on the roof.

by:

Easy to install, direct replacement for the Domestic air conditioner on my Coleman camper

by:

Good air conditioner, but fan won't shut off after set temperature is met

by:

Item arrived damaged by UPS. I contacted etrailer & they are sending a replacement. Very good customer service. As you can looks like the unit was thrown around during shipping.

by:

The A/C seem to be a good value and the customer service from Britney was great. It was not clear to me that this unit didn't include all of the inside the camper components and thermostat as shown in the installation video.

by:

Much more compact and lighter than original unit and came when anticipated. This unit Beatrice made sure the crossover from Coleman to Advent was compatible and right adapter was used. Love dealing with e trailer as I can speak to real people that I can understand and know what they are talking about.

by:

AC works, however, the bottom half of the unit was bent, someone damaged (bent it) the bottom portion and must have put a new top cover on it and boxed the unit up. The box was in perfect shape.

by:

Etrailer folks were extremely helpful! Sheila thank you! The casing had some minor dents in the sides therefore I gave 4 stars. I was able to pull them back out. Advent needs better packaging in their boxes to protect the unit!

by:

The replacement air conditioner works perfectly. The base plate on my original Coleman was smaller, so we have to make some adjustments otherwise everything works great.
