What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this spare tire mounted jerry can holder for Jeep Wranglers. This is from MORryde, and this is gonna be a good way, to get that fuel canister, outside of your vehicle, and store it on the outside. That way, you don't have to smell the fuel while you're driving around, if you have to top up, you know. It's also gonna make more room, for more stuff in the Jeep, rather than this taking up that much space. Let's check it out.
This is gonna hold most NATO style jerry cans, up to five gallons. We have a five gallon one in there today. It comes with the ratchet strap, that's how we get it nice and tight, and not to move. There is a little space around the outside of the jerry can, but that's intended, so that these folks can get into there, and get into the mounting spots. That way it holds it nice and tight, so you can get that in there, you don't have to worry about scratching the can while you're doing that, and that's on the front and the back, that they hook in there and then you can latch it down.
This one also has side walls, on both sides. If that's something that you don't want, there is another one that they offer that is just more of a flat platform for the jerry can to sit on. I will say, that it's pretty sturdy, you can hear that, it's really solid construction. It's black powder coat steel and even the mounting options, you know, with the spare tire on there, this extended out, the bolt's in there, no rattling around, it doesn't move. I can shake the whole Jeep back and forth, and this isn't gonna move at all.
Another thing that's pretty convenient, and we left if like this on purpose, is we left a little bit of space in here. That way you can get in there with the impact, and use the same fitting that I would use for the lug nuts, to loosen this up, so when you're not using it, you can just take it off, and remove it. We said it would fit a five gallon jerry can, but I'm gonna go ahead and give you some dimensions. That way, you know specifically, how much you can hold. So, let's go from side to side, it looks to be about 14 inches and a quarter, and then we're gonna go from front to back, looks like seven and a quarter inches there, and then let's look at the side wall height,' go from the bottom to the top, looks like to be a nice six inches.
I think this is a good addition to your Jeep, especially if you don't wanna haul the gas can, inside the Jeep. Either you get limited space in there, or you just don't want the gas in there, you don't wanna be smelling it. You put it out here on the outside, and it's not gonna bother you at all. It's gonna stay in place, with that ratchet down, this thing's not going anywhere. Well, I think that does it, thanks for hanging out, and I hope this helped..

This jerry can mount lets you carry fuel so you can fill up when you're off the beaten path. Works with NATO-style or Scepter fuel cans. Installs on your factory or MORryde spare tire carrier. This thing is beautiful. The mount is heavy steel plate with another heavy steel backing plate with a 1" solid steel bar welded front and back. The weld beads are excellent. The extra backing plate doesn't extend out to the bolt holes so I shimmed the bolts by stacking washers, 4 standard 1/2 inch washers on each bolt leveled it out perfectly. I added spring keepers to the bolts to make sure it doesn't fall off and break my foot when I need to dismount the spare. The frame that holds the pan mounts to the bar with a 1/2" grade 5 bolt, washer and lockwasher. The channel of the frame is so tight to the bar that I had to tap it on with a mallet the first time. Once it's bolted down there is no wiggle at all. It came with mismatched bolts and nuts to mount the pan. I emailed after hours and when I logged on the next morning had a response offering to send me another hardware pack, so I'd say cs is first rate. Attaching a pic of the mount and a completion pick with my 10l fuel can.
This product is designed and made thoughtfully and is of good quality materials. I like that there is some ability to adjust how close the can sits to the spare tire.
Just received my tank carrier. Excellent build quality. Easy to install. Super quick shipping. 5 star
