Hi everybody, My name is Andy with etrailer.com. And today we're taking a look at Coghlan's Orange Safety Whistle. If you're putting an emergency kit together for your camping adventure, a hiking adventure, or just any outdoor adventure, and you just wanna have some essential emergency items on hand in a kit, this might be a good item for you to consider. This plastic, pealess safety whistle will work when it's wet or when it's really cold outside, because it will not freeze. And it doesn't have any moving parts like a pea moving around on the inside of that whistle. So it will work in those type of conditions.

As you can see, it does include this nice lanyard. And from top to bottom to the clip, it's about 19 inches long. And just give me, let me give you a closeup of this lanyard. What this has here at the, at the bottom, is this clip that will allow you to conveniently remove the whistle while you still have the lanyard around your neck. So that's a nice option.

And on the other end, it has a breakaway. So if you have this around your neck, and you inadvertently get the lanyard caught on, on a limb or something like that. This is not a strangulation hazard. This will break away. And so it is a nice, nice safety feature with that lanyard.

Now the key ring allows you to attach it to the rest of your keys for easy access, if you choose so. I usually keep my keys on a carabiner. And so it's just really easy to slip on like that. Or you can use the carabiner to attach this whistle to your pack or to your belt loop. So multiple different ways to carry this whistle.

Now, as you can see, it's a nice, bright orange color for high visibility. So if you lose this while you're on the trail or out in the woods somewhere, I think if you remember the, go back to the area where you think you lost it, that bright orange color will just pop on the ground. And so I don't think you'll have any problems finding it. Let me give you some measurements, just to kind of give you an idea of the size. The overall length from where the key ring connects to the whistle is a little over 2 inches, about 2 and eighth inches long. And going across it's about 7/8 inch across, 7/8 inch across. And then the thickness, we're sitting right at about 3/8 inch thick on that whistle. And just to kind of give you an idea of how it sounds. It has a pretty decent sound and a pretty shrill. So I think if you we're looking to use this in an emergency situation, I think the sound would travel quite a bit, and it has a pretty good sound for the size that it is. Now, if you're looking for a more of a traditional whistle than this, Coghlan does have what they call their deluxe whistle. It's a brass whistle that does have a pea inside. It's not as resistant to moisture and freezing because of the pea that is inside, but that, that's a more of a deluxe option, a more traditional option.
