This item is a must to go along with the rack I bought. It not only look good on my truck but it can handle lengthy items. I am totally satisfied with my purchase.
Haven’t assembled yet do to damaged parts, waited a while for this piece and planned a project around the date of arrival.
replacing an my older track rack system has lasted 20 years. now upgrade to the new model wish they didn't change the bed railing to only 2 sliding rails instead of 3. but it will work jest fine. the service and the fast shipping. awesome customer service thank you guys.
I've used the extension now for a year. Its very nice looking and distinguishable (people know my truck by seeing the ladder rack). It works great for hauling around stiff items like extension ladders. It also does an okay job of protecting the cab roof when hauling around flexible items like 20' framing lumber. It's not as tough as I thought it would be, I think the 1000 lb rating is a little generous; it's better rated at under 600lbs.
Garbage, sits a full inch higher than the rack it's bolted to. Designed by fools. Unusable trash.

It is normal for the cantilever extension to be 1 inch higher than the bed racks. It is so that once the system is loaded it will level out to the height of your bed racks.
Only had a few weeks to check it out but so far it’s very sturdy and I’m very impressed with the product.
The cantilever extension works great. Heavy duty, good quality and its aluminum (no rust). I have a GMC 2500HD and there is good clearance over the crew cab. I had to purchase this separately from the T-RAC Pro 2, which required replacement of some of the bolts on the T-RAC Pro, resulting in left-over parts and fittings. Thule quality + spare assembly parts = $$$, so I deduct a star.
My truck has dealer installed Trac-Rac - nobody could tell me the exact model number though. The installed straightforward but breaking open the installed cross-bar took a little grunt on the screws as they have locktite on them. Once apart fitup went great but the alignment of the 3 cross-bars horizontally had the added extension cross-bar higher by about the thickness of the cross-bar. I pulled off the side extensions and flipped them `upside down' crossing sides. I filed the little indents and drilled the now bottom of the brace to receive the corner struts. Put them on and now the cross-bar is slightly lower. This is not a problem because I installed a wear strip over the top to makeup the slight lower elevation. Everything looks perfect, no one but me will know. But it did take about 3 hrs vs. an hour or so as purported. Thank you.
I own a gutter company and work with this company all the time for my truck supplies and set up. We purchase the Trac-Rac system at least 2x's a year from them. The system is solid and the cantilever is vital when dealing with ladders longer than 28'. Every single employee I deal with is polite and professional. Shipments get delayed due to shortages, packages get damaged due to shipping, but this company for the last 6 years has always done right by us. Not sure what we love more the products or the service. Thanks again to Stacey and the rest of the great staff at etrailer.
Looks great and fits well. The only thing I notice is the cantilever sits almost an inch higher than the other uprights so boards need to be sprung down at the forward upright to make them fully secure.
After adding the extension to my Thule rack, I noticed a half inch lower
Height of the middle cross bar compared to the rear cross bar on my Silverado.
Definitely made a big difference for us carrying longer items, but it also increase road noise significantly.
The cantilever worked very well and I am very happy with it. If it was even longer to fit more over the top of the truck it would be even better.
Working great. Hauling ladders and lumber longer than 8ft.

This truck rack is very versitle. I like the adjustability. Works great after a year of use. Very durable.
Works great, takes all the weight you need it to and helps stabilize long boards and vinyl siding from hitting the roof of your truck. The only thing that would make it better would be if they offered this model in black
