Install your Hayes electric trailer brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. One end plugs into the controller, and the other plugs into the built-in port behind your vehicle's dash.
Features:
To install your Hayes electric brake controller, you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain auto manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, in which the wiring is run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. Usually when this is done, a port is installed at your dash so that you can easily plug in a brake controller.
This adapter plugs into the connector behind your vehicle's dashboard. To reach the connector, remove the storage pocket that is built into the center of your dash, just above the ashtray. Once you have removed the pocket, you will see the gray, 4-pin connector that mates with the adapter.
No hardwiring is required to install this adapter. After you plug it into the factory port, you simply plug the other end of the adapter directly into your electric trailer brake controller. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle or securely stow it away.

Today we'll be reviewing part #HA81784-HBC. This is the custom wiring adapter for Hayes break controllers. This is a dual plug set up. This is going to fit Ford Super Duty Trucks F250 and 350. And then also 350, 450, and 550 with cabin chassis from 2005 to 2007. This does require that your vehicle has factory tow package wiring. The plugin wiring adapter is going to allow for quick simple installation of your electric break controller. No cutting or taping or splicing of wires is required. The custom connector at this point here plugs into the built in port behind the dash of your vehicle.
And the opposite end plugs into the bag of your electric break controller. I have a Hayes break boss here just to show you how easily these two connect. Just snap them into place, make the connection in the vehicle, and you're going to be set to go. To disengage, you just push down that tab and pull the two pieces apart. This is compatible with time delayed and proportional break controllers from Hayes. And the length of the wire between the 2 ports is going to measure 2 feet in length. That's going to do it for today's review of part #HA81784-HBC. This is the Hayes custom wiring adapter for the Hayes break controllers.
